HomeMy Public PortalAbout04-29-1938 OFFICE OF THE BOARD OF WORKS CITY OF RICHMOND, INDIANA, FRIDAY APRIL 29, 1938. The Board of Public Works and Safety of the City of Richmond, Indiana, met in the office of the said Board, Friday. April 29, 1938, at 9 :00 o' clock A.M. Messrs. Joseph M. Waltermann, Simeon Hodgin and William Kelley, Jr. being present the following proceedings were had, to-wit : The minutes of the preceeding meeting were approved as read. Notice of a claim against the City for the death of Jeff Williams, whoes death it was alleged was caused by a hole in the street, was received by the Board, and was ordered referred to the State Highway Department, as they were in charge of maintenance of the street on which said accident occured. The Board approved the donating of enough of the • street car rails and trolley to place one of the old city street cars on display at the Wayne County Museum. An agreement proposed by the Kappa Kappa Kappa sorority covering the rental of the ball park for the date of May 20, was presented to the Board but was not signed, the Board taking the attitude that the park should be leased just the same as it had been in :the past. City Engineer Hodgin reported that the radio tower was in need of paint and that the Federal Radio Commission had given the proper color of paint, and the cost would run around $100.00. The Board authorized Mr. Hodgin to make arrangements to have this work done. Mr. Chastine who operates a grocery store at NW Harris Street near the Belden Plant was before the Board in an effort to correct parking conditions around his store. The Board instructed the Clerk to phone Mr. Martin of the Belden and ask their cooperation in this complaint . Report was made to the Board of a meeting between the State Highway Department and the City as to the streets, said meeting to be held on the date of Friday May 6. A report was also made that the check due from the Indiana Railway as a part of the franchise agreement , had been made out and was up for approval of the Judge. The Board ordered an investigation made at all buss stops where the curbs had been cut for the operation of filling stations. Claims to the amount of $4,442. 58 were allowed after which the Board adjourned.�� Attest : G � �2G'c� City Clerk / /Mayor.
