OFFICE OF THE BOARD OF WORKS
CITY OF RICHMOND, INDIANA,
FRIDAY APRIL 22, 1938.
The Board of Public Works and Safety of the City of
Richmond, Indiana, met in the office of the said Board,
Friday April 22, 1938, at 9 :00 o' clock A.M. Messrs.
Joseph M. Walt ermann, Simeon Hodgin and William Kelley,
Jr. being present , the following proceedings were had, I/
to-wit :
The minutes of the preceeding meeting were approved
as read in Council.
Permission^ to cut the curb a distance of 40' was
granted R. C. Terrel at 919 Slieridan Street.
The Board signed contracts for the Band Concerts for
the season of 1938 with the American Legion Band.
Harvey Therian was before the Board relative to
getting traveling expenses out of the WPA Account , so
that he might attend a Convention to be held at Purdue.
The Board was unable to grant this request as there
was no appropriation made under thsi heading.
Reverend Jones of the Na7arine Church was before the
Board with a request for permission to erect a tent to
be used for worship, at the end of Doran Bridge. The
Board granted this request with the understanding that
parking of cars would be so conducted as not to interfere
with traffic.
Complaint was made as to the condition of the banks
at a Lot on South llth and J Streets , and since this
property had been practicly abandoned by the former
owner on account of the amount of assessments against
the same, the Board decided to attempt to make a WPA
project out of this complaint .
A request for bus service past Hibberd School was
received and referred to the Traction Company.
As Earl Moore the former lessee of the concession at
('len Miller Park was indebted to the city for the sum
of $200.00 as last years rent, and had shown no willing-
ess to pay the same nor in the operation of the concessI/
ion this year. The Board decided to try to get Phil
7uttermaster to operate this concession on a percentage
basis.
Claims to the amount of $10, 711.09 were allowed after
which the Board adjourned.
