OFFICE OF THE BOARD OF WORKS
CITY OF RICHMOND'; INDIANA,
FRIDAY APRIL 15, 1938.
The Board of Public Works and Safety of the City of
Richmond, Indiana, met in the office of the said Board,
Friday April 15, 1938, at 9 :00o ' clock A.M. Messrs.

Joseph M. Waltermann, Simeon Hodgin and William Kelley,
Jr. being present the following proceedings were had,
to-wit :
The minutes of the preceeding meeting were approved
as read.
Permission to cut the curb a distance of 10' on South
A near 21st Street was granted to Verlin Ballinger.
A Petition to repair Northwest A Street from Easthaven
Avenue west was referred to the Street Department .
City Engineer Hodgin reported that he had mailed the
letter drafted by City Attorney Kelley relative to any
further excavation under the South G Street Bridge to
Levi Peacock of the Richmond (?ravel Company.
The light petitioned for at the corner of South 4 and
L Streets was denied , but it was decided to place a
barrier at the end of this street.
Weights and Measure Inspector, Mr. Carl Kutter read
a letter from the State Department, asking him to bring
the hydraulic lifts which were confiscated from a grain
truck, to the State Convention of Weights & Measure
Inspectors in Terre Haute, Indiana, Mr. Kutter explained
to the Board that the only way he could get this equipment
to Terre Haute was by using the city car, and stated
that he did not want to do this without the consent of
the Board. The Board felt that this was in order for
Mr. Kutter to use the city car to transport this equipment
to Terre Haute, and so authorized.
Mr. E. H. Camfield was before the Board relative to
the collection of waste paper in the rear of the Colonial
Building and promised the Board that arrangements had
been made with the tenants of his building to comply with
the City ordinance.
The claim of Eva Litchenfels, Agent for 841.80 for
labor on a sewer which said labor was caused by a mistake
of WPA workmen was allowed by the Board.
The Board adopted Declaratory Resolution No. 2?0-1938
for the vacation of an alley between 20th and 21st and
north of Glen Court, and set the date of May 6, 1938 for
the hearing of remonstrances.

A request for tools for the N. Y.A. from William
Hoch was turned over to Mr. Burkhardt.
A request for yellow curb in front of the Museum was
tabled.
I/ The Board authorized the signing of an agreement
conveying the tracks and over head of the present street
car system to the City of Richmond, Indiana.
Claims to the amount of $2,256.86 were allowed after
which the Board adjourned.
