OFFICE OF THE BOARD OF WORKS
CITY OF RICHMOND, INDIANA,
FRIDAY APRIL 1, 1938.
The Board of Public Works and Safety of the City of
Richmond, Indiana, met in the office of the said Board,
Friday April 1, 1938, at 9 :00 o ' clock A. M. Messrs.
Joseph M. Waltermann, Simeon Hodgin and William Kelley, I/
Jr, being present, the following proceedings were had,
to-wit :
The minutes of the preceeding meeting were approved as
read. -
The Board decided that the proper course to pursue
in regards to the alley running north and south a'nd
between 20 and 21st and north of Glen Court, was to
vacate the same, and it was decided to contact the owners
of property and if there was no objections, vacate the
same.
Levi Peackock who owns 2 lots at West Main and llth
Streets was granted permission to tap the sewer at this
point for a payment of S15.00, this chargebetng made as
these lots were not assessed when the sewer was constructed.
The City Attorney was instructed to draft a letter tp
be mailed to the Richmond Gravel Co . warning them not to
dig any closer to the South G Street bridge.
The Board renewed their contract with the West
Disinfect Company for their service at the parks.
The Board authorized the refunding of a charge of
`' 14. 00 for pumping water out of the celler at the home
of Eva Litchenfels, and also agreed to 'Day for the labor
of digging up the sewer. This because of the fact that
WPA workmen had disconnected her sewer, and placed her
to this expense.
A request for a light on North 16th Street between
North E and the railroad was deferred.
A sample ordinance from the State Board of Health
which would cover the dumping of oil and chemicals into
the Sewage Treatment Plant was referred to City Attorney
Kelley for his inspection after which the same was to
be referred back to the Board.
The Board authorized the grading of the archery range
in Clear Creek Park.
City Engineer Hodgin was instructed to see that the
curbs were painted for bus stops, and also have the Bus
Company secure signs reading "No Parking Bus Stop" .

Claims to the amount of $4,204.12 were allowed after
which the Board adjourned.

The Bi-Lateral Company submitted a bid but did not include
either a non-collusion affidavit or certified check so their
bid was not considered.
These bids were turned over to the City Engineer and
the Fire Chief who recomended the purchase of the Buckeye
brand from the Fabric Fire Hose Company.
The Board made final adoption of Declaratory Resolutions
Nos. 258 and 259-1938.
