HomeMy Public PortalAbout03-25-1938 4229 OFFICE OF TEE BOARD OF WORKS CITY OF RICHOND, INDIANA, FRIDAY MARCH 25, 1938. The Board of Public Works and Safety of the City of Richmond, Indiana, met in the office of the said Board, Friday March 25, 1938, at 9 :00 o 'clock A.M. Messrs. Joseph M. Waltermann, Simeon Hodgin and William Kelley, Jr. being present the following proceedings were had, to-wit: The minutes of the prceeding meeting were approved as read in Council. Permission to cut the curb a distance of 18' was granted Verlin Foland at 2916 East Main Street. Cornelius Richardson was before the Board representing Captian Crump, with a request that the alley north of Glen Court between 20th and 21st Streets be opened, and stated that although this alley had neter been legally vacated yet there was a fence at one end of the same. The Board instructed the street department to see that this fence was removed and the alley opened. JohnNeiwoehner was ordered to repair the heating plant in the green house at Glen Miller Park, the price to be $89 .20 for materials and $52.80 for labor. A discussion was had as the practice of the merchants throwing loose paper and trash in the alleys and thereby causing a lot of unnecessary work for the street department, the Clerk suggested that a form be drawn up notifying the vioaters and that this form contain the provision of the trash collection ordinance, and that said forms should be served by the heads of the departments. The Board adopted this suggestion. The High School was authorized to use:the Municipal Ball Park under the same conditions as prevailed last season. Complaint was made about the Coca Cola signs being placed between the curb and the sidewalks throughout the 3ity. The Board ordered this practice stopped. The Mayor reported that the City was constructing a chamber for the gassing of stray dogs and that as soon as this was completed, the shooting of stray dogs would be stopped.
