HomeMy Public PortalAbout12-03-1937 OFFICE OF THE BOARD OF WORKS 401 CITY OF RICHMOND, INDIANA, FRIDAY DECEp. ER 3, 1937. The Board of Public Works and Safety of the City of Richmond, Indiana, met in the offiee of said Board , Friday December 3, 1937 at 9 :00 o' clock A. M. Messrs. Joseph N. Waltermann, Simeon Hodgin and William Kelley, Jr. being present , the following Proceedings were had , to-wit : The minutes of the preceeding meeting were approved as read. Mr. Hess reported on the cost of the revising the traffic light installation at 16th and Main Streets, and the Board authorized this change at a cost of 965.00, said work to be completed or paid for before the first of the year. Mr. Dill of the Water Works Corporation was before the Board regarding the installation of the water main on the New Paris Pike and reported that work would be started on this at once. Mr. Dill also reported that he had received a circular from his company advising of the danger of the water being contamnated due to back syphoning of air conditioning plants and flush ometer toilets, andstatedTthat.. he;::was goingtb exam ne the plumbing code to see if provisions wre made to prevent anything of this nature occuring. Mr. Dill was asked to consult with the Building Inspector on this Question. icg Fire Chief Harry Williams stated that when the new high school was built that it would be necessary to remove the water main in Dodge street and that this would leave him without fire protection on the east side of the school. It was decided to have the Chief, Mr. Dill and Mr. Bate get together and arrange some way that this condition could be corrected. The light plant v{as authorized to place the first light on the west side of North 9th and just north of Main Street on the allnight circuit. Superintendent of Streets Burkhardt asked permission to purchase a hot water heater for the street department garage, Chief Williams stated that he thought that there was an old heater in the basement that could be used and Yr. Burkhardt stated that he would look at this to see if could not be used. A petition for the issuance of ::45, 000. 00 of bonds for the construction of the East and Southeast Sanitary Sewer System, the said petition bearing the signatures of 56 taxpayers , the Clerk was instructed to present the Ordinance authorizfbng the issuance of $45,000. 00 of bonds for this 402 purpose, said ordinance to ready for the Council at their regular meeting of December 6, 1937 . City Attorney Kelley read an ammendment to the Building Code, which had been requested by the Building Inspector, and Mr. Kelley was authorized to have this ammendment ready for the Council on Monday December 6, 1937 .
