CITY OF RICHMOND, INDIANA,
FirRIDAY NOVEMBER 19 , 1937 .
The Board of Public Works and Safety of the City of
Richmond, Indiana, met in the office of the said Board
Friday November 19 , 1937, at 9 :00 o' clock A. Y. Messrs.
Joseph M. Taltermann, Simeon Hodgin and William Kelley,
Jr. , being present , the following proceedings were had,
to-wit :
The minutes of the preceeding meeting were approved
as read in Council.
A complaint as to the condition of the entrance to an
alley where water stands at all times, between Kinsey
and Pearl Streets on Fourth was referred to the Street
Department for corrrection.
A report was reaceived from the Building Inspector,
asking for permission to let George Scantland use material
as stated in petition. The Board granted this permission.
E. Harrison Scott asked for permission to cut the curb
in three places on North 7th Street opposite the Coliseum
a total distance of 65 feet, and stated that he was gpng
to enlarge this parking lot so as to accomodate 100 cars.
The Board granted this permisssion.
The Mayor stated that he was awaiting a reply from the
State Highway Commission as to the taking over of what
city streets as are a part of the state highways, and
that a conference would be arranged in Indianapolis to
go over the various details.
A representative of the Taylor Tobacco Company was
before the Board seeking permission to have a yellow curb
in front of their place of business at .206 Ft . Wayne Ave.
Fire Chief Williams who was present , informed this
• representative that they would have to fix up their garage
before they could store their car in the same, as it was
dangerous to the surrounding buildings and added to the
insurance rates. He was referred to the City Building
Inspector.
City Engineer Hodgin reported that he had been given
assurance that the WPA grant for the sewer would be
available as soon as the easements were secured, and that
these funds would be available until June 30, 1938. The
Board acting on this assurance instructed City Attorney
Kelley, to start proceedings at once for the issuance
of 45,000.00 in bonds for this project .

Fire Chief Harry William asked permission to us : .. .
the City Council Chamber for the Annual Regional Fire
School on the dates of December 2 - 3, 1937 . The
Board granted this permission.
Claims to the amount of $8,514. 53 were allowed
after which the Board adjourned .
