HomeMy Public PortalAbout09-24-1937 3E32 OFFICE OF THE BOARD OF ,.:ORKS CITY OF RICHIVIOND, iNDIANA FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 24, 1937 . The Board of Public 'Yorks and Safety of the City of Richmond, Indiana, met in the office of said Board, Friday, September 24, 1937 , at 9 :00 A. M. Messrs . Joseph M. Waltermann, Simeon V7 . Hodgin, William Kelley, I/ Jr. , being present , the following proceeding were had to-wit: The minutes of the preceeding meeting were approved as read in Council meeting. Ward' s Machine Shop appeared before the Board to protest against the "No Parking" on North B street opposite the High School, as they used their truck to unload and load along the street . The Board deferred any action until same had been inspected 'by them. Fire Chief Williams reported the bad condition of narrow street, North F, between 13th and 15th, when making fire calls . He stated it was impossible to pass cars as they parked on both sides of street . The Board agreed to investigate same . City Engineer Hodgin reported that Mr. Wenz , W P A, supervisor, would soon have the traffic survey under way. Fire Chief Williams asked permission to attend the International Fire Chief ' s convention at Oklahoma City, Okla. , Oct . 21st to 23rd. Permission granted. John O'Maley of the Merchants Retail Ass 'n. , appeared before the Board asking for the annual Christmas lighting of Main street as previously done in the past . This was referred to the Common Council for action. City Engineer Hodgin reported that the Traveler ' s Insurance Co. , had -requested that the boilers & heating plants at the various fire stations and Glen Park community house have diaphram relief valves installed in boilers to protect same from high pressure in case of freezing. This work was ordered done by the Board. City Engineer Hodgin also reported that Chief Radio I/ Operator Harold Ritchey had drawn up a. set of rules to be followed at the Radio station to be submitted to the Poard for their approval. The Board agreed to approve same after some revisions . Cit - Engineer Hodgin reported. the City Plan Commission had worked up a plan for the installation of lights at Ft . Wayne Avenue , and North D. , also for the markings of routes ' or lanes in form of a traffic circle , which would be something near the same as at Soldier ' s nionunne:rit at Indianapolis . Mr. Hodgin stated, he thought it would solve 383 the traffic problems at that intersection. The Board agreed to plan further on this project . Mr. Saylor of Dayton, Ohio appeared before the Board regarding sandblasting the City Hall , as he was already doing this type of work on various business blocks in the city. He was of the opinion it would cost around 1300.00 to sandblast the building. The Board asked ' r. Saylor to submit a definite figure and report back. Claims to the amount of r>14,145-7. 70were allowed after which the Board adjourned. Mayor - Attest ; ActiJ Clerk. -
