HomeMy Public PortalAbout09-10-1937 379 OFFICE OF THE BOARD OF WORKS CITY OF RICHMOND, INDIANA, FRIDAY SEPTEMB ER 10, ;1937. The Board of Public Works and Safety of the City of Richmond , Indiana , met in the office of said Board , Friday September 10, 1937 , at 9 :00 o' clock, A.M. Messrs. Simeon Hodgin and William Kelley, Tr. being present , the following proceedings were had, to-wit : The minutes of the preceeding meeting were approved as read in Council. Mr. Hodgin reported that he had again taken up the traffic survey pith Mr. Wenz of W.P.A. and that unless the same was started soon, the Planning Commission had agreed to allow some individual to make this survey. The manager of the Forney Store at Fourth and Main was before the Board requesting the painting of 20' of yellow curb in front of their store. The Board . informed the gentlemen that the Council had instructed the Board not to authorize the painting of any yellow curb other than specified in the Traffic Ordinance. Permission to cut the curb a distance of 30' on North A Street and Seventh was sought by the Shell Oil Company, the Board decided to view this location before taking any action. Market Master Carl Kutter reported that the roof at the Market House needed some repairs , and the Board instructed Superintendent of Streets Burkhardt to have his men take care of these repairs. Mr. Kutter also asked permission to have his city car painted. The Board instructed Mr. Kutter to pet prices on this through the City Purchasing Agent and if funds were available, to have this work done. Dr. Ferling was before the Board complaining about the truck traffic on South A Street. Mr. Hodgin reported that he was trying to get the county to complete South L Street so that truck traffic could be routed over this street to Henley Road and then back to the National Road.
