The Board of Public Works and Safety of the City of Richmond, Indiana, met in the office of said Board, Friday September 3, 1937 , at 9 :00 o' clock A.M. Messrs. Simeon Hodgin and William Kelley, Ir. , being present the following proceedings were had, to-wit : The minutes of the nreceeding meeting were approved as read. City Attorney Kelley reported that there was a Section in the traffic ordinance which covered the matter of interefering with the operation of fire trucks, and moved that the ordinance covering false alarms and driving over fire hose be presented to the Council, this motion was adopted. A petition to cut the curb a distance of 25' on the east side of North 6th between Main and A Streets , Was:: received and the Board decided to visit this location before taking any action on this petition. Permission to cut the curb a distance of 18' was granted Earl Hart, at 334 South 15th Street. Two business men from 504 North 8th Street were before the Board requesting that 15 minute parking signs be placed at this location, the also requested that the trash be collected oftener than twice a week, these two requests were referred to the Police -and ,Street Departments. A petition signed by 32 property owners adjacent to North 15th and E Streets was received, said petition asked for a• time limit on parking at this location also that a traffic survey be made at this location to determine what was the best thing to do in order to eliminate some of the objectionable feature that were complained off. The Board decided to make a survey at this location and then base any action which might be required on this survey. City Engineer Hodgin reported that Mr. Pierce of McKechnie Pierce Co . had called him in regards to sum of money being retained by the city, to cover damages done to the light plant, and stated that he felt that the city should release this money to him and sue the bonding company. Mr. Hodgin reported that he told Mr. Pierce that the State Board of Accounts had stated that the City Controller was justified in withholding this money. City Attorney Kelley stated that he felt that if there was any suit to be filed, that it was McKechnie-Pierces problem and not one of the cities. City Engineer Hodgin stated that Mr. Burkhardt and him- self had looked over the lots that Margaret Knollen- berg desired to give to the city, and that there recmmend- ation was that the city not accept these lots. • .378 As they would be of no particular value to the city and that there were delinquent taxes on the same® Claims to the amount of $1,132.72 were allowed after which the Board adjourned. • Attest : /' Mayor. 2 y/a4zaVal).
