HomeMy Public PortalAbout08-21-1937 • C73 OFFICE OF THE BOARD OF WORKS CITY OF _RICHMOND, INDIANA, FRIDAY AUUUST 21, 1937. The Board of Public Works and Safety of the City of Richmond, Indiana, met in the office of said Board , Friday August 21, 1937 , at 9 :00 o' clock A.M. Messrs. Joseph M. Walteriiann, Simeon Hodgin and William Kelley, Jr. , being present the following proceedings were had, to-wit : The minutes of the preceeding meeting were approved as read in Council. Permission to cut the curb a distance of 8 ' was granted Herman Pilgrim Sons, at 301 Southwest Fourth St. Petitions for arc lights at South 7th and I and South 7th and K Streets were received, Councilman Schnieder who was present at the Board meeting spoke in favor of these two petitions and stated that 'these petitioners would be satisfied with an incandescant light . City Engineer Hodgin was instructed to investigate this location and make his recommendation to the Board. A petition for a yellow curb in front of the Richmond Bottle and Glass Company on North A between 5th and 6th Streets was referred to Street Superintendent Burkhardt. Fire Chief Harry Williams asked for instructions from the Board as to what to do with the balance in the Miller Memorial Fund, and stated that there was a balance of $113.28 in this fund and that Mrs. Claude Berry had asked that it be turned over to her as head of the Nikral Club. The Board referred this to a Committee composed of Mr. Hodgin, Mr. Coons and Mr. Williams. Fire Chief Harry Williams reported that the price on a fire alarm register was $135.25. The Board author- ized the purchase of the register. The Board ordered the spur tracks removed on South 8th Street , where the same ran into the old Station. The Board ordered the wading pool at Glen Miller Park cleaned, and the fire department was ordered to use a pumper to refill the same. Pursuant to notices sent to all dealers the following bids were received for sewer tile for the Crosley Sewer: Beet Cartwright Co. 1600' 15" DS. Delivered 72ct per foot total $1, 152.00 ►, " " F. O.B. . 684 " " " $1,094.40 374 2600 Pound Calking Compound © .$83.28 per ton, Total $108.2 7 Gallon Calking Fluid Q 13.83 per gallon, Total $5.81. Miller Kemper Company: Same Bid as Above. Klehfoth Voss Company: Same Bid as Above. Mather Brothers Company: Same Bid as Above. Niewoehner Long Corporation: Same Bid as Above. Bertsch Brothers. 52k' Cement Manhole Covers , Delivered at $. 11 per foot. These bids were all referred to the City Purchasing Agent and City Engineer Hodgin.
