HomeMy Public PortalAbout08-06-1937 67 OFFICE OF THE BOARD OF WORKS CITY OF RICHMOND, INDIANA, FRIDAY AUGUST 6, 1937. The Board of Public Works and Safety of the City of Richmond, Indiana, met in the office of said Board, Friday August 6,. 1937, at 9 :00. o ' clock A.M. Messrs. Toseph M. Waltermann, Simeon Hodgin and William Kelley, Tr. being present , the following proceedings were had, to-wit : The minutes of the preceeding meeting were approved as read in Council. Permission to cut the curb a distance of of 4' each side of their presnt driveway was granted the Richmond Motors Co. at 27-29 North 9th Street . Permssion was also granted Lester Thurman to cut the curb for a private drive at 803 Sheridan Street . The Board approved the agreement between the W.P.A. and the City, as the Crosley sewer. The request 'for an alley light in the second alley south of Main Street between Fourth and Fifth Street, was referred to the City Engineer for investigation. The Petition for an arc light at the first alley north of Glen Court on 22nd Street was also referred to the City Engineer for investigation. William Morrey, lessee or the Municipal Golf Course was before the Board complaining of the damage done to the greens and also the flower beds in Glen Miller Park by People who were catching night crawlers . The Board decided to order that none of this be permitted east of the main road in Olen Miller Park. The Board rescinded their action against ordering the laying of the water main from P to Q on South 4th Street. Fire Chief Harry Williams asked the permission of the Board to get prices on repainting the fire truck at No . 5 Hose House. The Board granted this permission. The Fire Chief also asked the City Attorney if he had prepared the ordinance providing for penalties for turning in false alarms. Mr. Kelley stated that it was not necessary to have such an ordinance, since this offense was covered by State Law. City Engineer Hodgin presented a proposal to place a circular turtle in the center of Fifth Street at South G, also one at South Fifth and H Streets, the Board decided that these circles might be painted on the street, together with lines, but did not want to place any 368 thing in the street of a solid nature. Pursuant to advertising bids were received on two Police Cars as follows : Chenoweth Notor Co. Item 1. One 1937 Plymouth Deluxe Two Door Black Coach with Built in Trunk, Complete with 2 Windshield Wipers, Seat Covers, Door Covers, Two Visors, Safety Glass All Around Spare Tires and Wheel, #6 Sireno Siren with Short Bell, Bosch R. C.K. 130 Heavy Duty Generator, (To be factory Installed) Standard Police Monogram on two doors, Wedge #75 Radio Aerial 880.00 Item #2. One 1937 Plymouth Deluxe Two Door Black Coach Complete as Above, Except with Bosch Model 149L Police Radio Receiver With Dynamotor Power Supply and permanent Magnet Loud Speaker $945.00 Alternate One 1937 Plymouth Deluxe Two Door Black Coach Complete same as Item 1 except without built in trunk $870.00 Alternate One 1937 Plymouth Deluxe Two Door Black Coach same as Item. 2 except without built in trunk 935.00 Item #3. One Kew 1937 Ford V-8 "85" Two Door Black Coac complete same as Item #1 except without built in or-cI trunk delivered in Richmond, Indiana $788.05 Alternate 2. One New 1937 Ford V-8 "85" Two Door Black Coach same as Item 2 except without built trunk, delivered in Richmond, Indiana $863.05 Item #3. Allowance on One V-8-1935 Ford Sedan, Engine # 1807917 , Known as Car # 14 (Heater, Radio and Siren to be removed and retained by owner) $325.00 Item #4. Allowance on One 1936 Plymouth Coach, Engine # P2-98771, Known as Car # 16, (Heater Radio and Siren to be removed and retained by owner ) $375.00 Theso bids were referred to the City Purchasing Agent, City Engineer and the Chief of Police. A discussion was then had as to the reason for failure to receive more bids on these police cars , and the Board then decided that because of the fact that nearly all these cars were purchased from the Ford dealer, that it would be good policy to purchase some other make of car, and they therefore decided to purchase two Plymouth Automobiles from Chenoweth Motor Co.
