HomeMy Public PortalAbout07-09-1937 360 OFFICE OF THE BOARD OF WORKS CITY OF RICHMOND, INDIANA, FRIDAY JULY, 9, 1937 . The Board of Public Works and Safety of the City of Richmond, Indiana, met in the office of said Board , Friday July 9 , 1937, at 9 :00 o' clock A. M. I/ Messrs. Joseph M. Waltermann and William Kelley, Jr. , being present , the following proceedings were had, to-wit : The minutes of the preceeding meeting were approved as read in Council. Permission to cut the curb a distance of 10' at 215 Reeveston Addition and at the Southwest Corner of North 13th E Streets was granted 1,m. Grace and Roscoe Hamd i l. Chief of Police Vogelsong was before the Board for , permission to purchase 2 new cars for the Police Department . The Board approved this and authorized the City Purchasing Agent to secure bids on these for the date of July 23, 1937 . Henry Therian of the Recreation Department was before the Board seeking to have the sum of ,tt300.00 placed in the City Budget for the support of this rroject , the Board decided to make this recommendation to the Common Council. The Board ordered the parking of automobiles on North A Street from 3 to 5, restricted-to: o.ne,,s•ideoof the street, and instructed the street commissioner to paint yellow curb in these two blocks, with the exception of a space in front of the business place' or Earl Shindler. The Board accepted the Proposition of James Eagen, who had been employed as dog catcher, for a two month period. 17r. Eagen agreeing to serve during the month of September for the sum of $60.00, the city to furnish the necessary gasoline. Fire Chief Harry Williams reported heehad subjected • I/ the new aerial truck to every test , and that he was perfectly satisfied that the same was first class in every respect , and recommended to the Board that the the same be accepted. The Board acting upon the recommendation of the Eire Chief accepted the Seagraves Aerial truck at the net cost of 0_7 , 344.15. The following bib were received on a truck for the street department : Richmond Motors. L. One and one-half (11) ton morel motor truck, fully eouipped dual rear wheels , 30x5-8 my tire, closed 361 cab, with Wood C-12 dump body or equal, with Wood • G1 underslung hoist or equal, and overload springs four (4 ) speed forward transmission with extra low first speed . 41047 . 50, Wood Gl hoist add 22 . 00 ' I/ ALTERNATE: Same as above except with 32x6-8 ply tires. add ; 18. 00 Chenoweth Auto Co.
