HomeMy Public PortalAbout06-04-1937 354 OFFICE OF THE BOARD OF WORKS CITY OF RICHMOND, INDIANA, NRIDAY JUNE 4, 1937 . The Board of Public Works and Safety oT the City of Richmond, Indiana, met in the office of said Board, Friday June 4, 1937, at 9 :00 o' clock A. M. Messrs. Joseph Y. Waltermann, Simeon Hodgin and William Ielley, Jr. being present the following proceedings were had, to-wit : The minutes of the preceeding meeting were approved as read. City Attorney Kelley reported that the: liability insurance carried by the City 'did not cover an archery range, and it was decided that this should be taken care of when t is policy was renewed in July of this year. A card of thanks from Ivan Farmer, President of the Junior Citizens Council of Morton High School, was received by the Board. A communication from the Richmond Fire and Casualty Insurance Association, wherein the offered their services to the city, was read, and the Clerk was instructed to notify this association that the:'Boardzi*buld be glad to receive their recommendations. The Board discussed the matter of finances for the maintainence of the Ball Park, and it was decided that since we were to be allowed one more appropriation ordinance this year, that the Clerk should prepare an ordinance providing funds for this purpose, together with what ever additional appropriations that were - needed by the various departments. A request for a. street light at the corner of South 4th €c L Streets was referred to the City Engineer for investigation. The request that the City place their public address system in the Ball Park was refused, however the Board offered no objections if arrangements could be made with some private individual for the use of his sound system, and he to use the same for advertising privileges. Mr. Howard Dill of th.e Richmond Water Works Corporation reported to the Board that a 212-." water main which was laid on Pearl Street between 1st and 3rd, had gone bad, and that the same should be replaced. Fire Chief Harry Williams recommended that this be ordered done, also that fire hydrants be placed at the corner of First and Pearl and Fourth and Pearl, the Board adopted this 355 recommendation and ordered the same done.
