CITY OF RICHMOND, INDIANA,
FRIDAY MAY 28, 1937.
The Board of i'ublic Works and Safety of the City
of Richmond, Indiana, met in the office of said Board,
Fdasy Way 28, 1937, at 9 :00 o ' clock A.M. Messrs.
Joseph W. Waltermann, Simeon 1Iodgin and William Kelley,
Jr. being pies:en ,the following proceedings were had,
to-wit :
The minutes of the preceeding meeting were approved
as read.
Ivan Farmer, a student of Morton High School was
before the Board seeking permission to have North A
Street closed from llth to 16th, on the date of June
2, 1937 , between the hours of 3:15 P. M. and 4 :15 P.M.
for the purpose of holding a bicycle race of the
students of Morton High School. The Board granted the
request of Mr. Farmer, and instructed the street
department to see that this street is blocked during
this hour.
City Engineer Hodgin reported that linoleum and
electric light fixtures were needed at the Community
House in (lien Miller Park. The Board authorized Mr.
Hodgin to secure bids on these articles .
A communication was read from errs. W. 0. Crawford
of 23 North 10th. Street, requesting a yellow curb in
front of her home. The Clerk was instructed to notify
Mrs . Crawford that the Board had no authority to
order any curbs painted yellow that were not specificaly
mentioned in the traffic ordinance.
• Superintendent of Streets Burkhardt reported that
the archery range had been established in Clear Creek
Park, some question was raised as to the liability of
the city in the event of an accident .
A communication was received from Mr. W.A.Knapp,
Public Safety Institute of Purdue University, offering
the free services of their department for traffic
instruction to the police department . The Board decided
to accept this offer and the Clerk was instructed to
notify Mr. Knapp.
Claims to the amount of 47 ,999. 65 were allowed
after which they adjourned.
