OFFICE OF THE BOARD OF WORKS
CITY OF RICH 'OND, INDIANA,
FRIDAY MAY 14, 1937. •
The Board of Public Works and Safety of the City
of Richmond , Indiana, met in the office of said. Board
Frdiay May 14, 1937 , at 9 :00 o ' clock A. M. Messrs.
Joseph M. Walterman, Simeon Hodgin and William Kelley,
Jr. being present, the following proceedings were
had, to-wit :
The minutes of the preceeding meeting were approved.
A letter was received from Frank Kautsky stating
that he did desire the use of the Ball Park on Decoration
Day and Labor Day. The Board authorized the Clerk to
rent this park. to Harry Patti for Decoration Day at
a rental of $15.00.
Mr. Howard Dill of the Water Works Company was
before the Board relative to the petition for the
placing of water mains on South 4th Street between
South 0 and P Streets . And the Board ordered this main
installed if the property owners would deposit the
sum of $12.00 each as a guarantee of good faith that
they would use this service, _ the question of fire
plugs at this location was left to the Fire Chief.
Permission was granted to Robert Justice to cut the
curb a distance of 10' at 329 SW 4th Street, Saint
Ellison a distance of 8' at 100 SW 5th Street and the
Indiana Refining Company at 17th and Main a distance
of 20 ' .
The following bids were received for the installing
of underground service to the Gamewell Room and the
City Building:
Stanley Plumbing and Electric Co . 145.00
Keene Electric Co. 117 .02
Meerhoff Elec. Co . City Bldg. 81.16
" Gamewell 42. 00
Mr. Tucker of the Light Plant informed the Board
that there would be an additional charge by the Plant
of about $25. 00, and he recommended that the job beI/
given to the lowest bidder, who was the Keene Electric
Co.
The question of the Industrial League using the
Municipal Ball Park for games on Thursday Friday and
Saturday was •discussed with Yr. Gimble, and it was
agreed to allow the League to make a charge of 5¢
the City to receive 10% of the receipts, and the
League to pay for what additional help that would be
required to place the park in shape for the Sunday
Fames.

The Board instructed that the City Controller' s
office be kept open on Saturday afternoons from
1 :00 to 3 :00 o ' clock and that either the Controller
or his Deputy be in the office during these hours.
An application was signed by the Board seeking an
increase in Power for the Police Radio Station from
50 watts to 100 watts.
Superintendent of Streets Burkhardt was authorized
to get bids on a small road roller.
The proposed traffic ordinance was held up pending
the making of a traffic survey of the city.
Claims to the amount of $7 ,361. 66 were allowed,
after which the Board adjourned.
