OFFICE OF THE BOARD OF WORKS
CITY OF RICHMOND, INDIANA,
FRIDAY APRIL 30, 1937. .
The Board of Public Works and Safety of the City
of. Richmond, Indiana, met in the office of said
Board, Friday April 30, 1937 , at 9 :00 o ' clock A.M.
Messr. Joseph Waltermann, Simeon Hodgin and
William Kelley, Jr. being present , the following
proceedings were had, to-wit :
The minutes of the preceeding meeting were
approved as read.
Permission to cut the curb adistance of 12 '
i n.7front T_of Lot jf r 20cof John Smiths Addition
located on the east side of South 5th Street ,
also a 10 ' strip on the South side of South L
Street near 7th.
A petition for an incandescant light at the
the east gate of the Pennsylvania was received
and the Board ordered this light installed.
A communication was received from Howard Dill
relative to the signing of a contract for the
furnishing of fire protection to Earlhhm Cemetary:
was read and the Board acting on the advice and
legal opinion rendered by Mr. Shiveley during the
fprmer administration felt that they could not
legaly make any such contract.
City Engineer Hodgin stated that Mr. E. Y. Haas
had asked to purchase a part of a lot 1h Earlham
CemetarY which was owned by the City. Mr. Hodgin
stated that he thought that the City should give
Mr. Haas this lot for the services that he had
rendered the city ih the past .
A contract was made between the City and the
West Disinfectant Co. for services at (len Miller
Park and the Municipal Baseball Park for a 5 month
period for the sum of $128. 75.
Complaint was Made by Dr, Bond of North 10th Street I/
as to parking in the alley in the rear of his home,
this complaint was refered to the Police Department
for correction.
Permission to use a city lot on Newmans Hill :s
for garden purposes was given to a W.P.A. worker.
Permission to cut the curb at West 5th and Main
and to change the grade of the sidewalk was granted
the Standard Oil Co .

Plans for the remodeling of the South 8th $ A
Street station were discussed, and objection as to
the amount of curb to be removed was made by City
Engineer Hodgin. The Board approved these plans,
Mr. Hodgin voting "No" on the proposal.
Only one bid was received for the contract as
Dog Catcher for a two month Period, this bid
being from James Eagen,Jr. who proposed to perform
such services asrwere specified in the contract,
for the sum of $120.00 per month. The Board accepted
this proposal and instructed Mr. Eagen to start on
this contract May 15, 1937 .
Officer Roy Wenger asked permission of the Board
to purchase a r-raflex camera. Since the sum of $100.00
had been placed in the Police Department Budget for
the purchase of equipment for the department , the
Board instructed City Purchasing Agent Ray Stevens
to get prices on this equipment.
Claims to the amount of $3,745.73 were allowed,
after which the Board adjourned.
