The Board of Public Works and Safety of the City of Richmond, Indiana, met in the office of said Board, Friday, April 9, 1937, at 9:00 o ' clock A. M. Messrs. I/ Joseph M. Waltermann, Simeon W. Hodgin and William Kelley, Jr. being present , the following proceedings were had, to-wit: The minutes of the preceeding meeting were approved as read in Council. The Plat for Trueblood Sub-Division was approved by the Board, said Tract being located at North 12th & G Streets. The Clerk reported that it had been discovered that the Bonding Companies would not write any bond. for the • performance of contract at the Ball Park, and it was decided to rewrite the contr act for said. park, so that the certified check for. $100.00 given by Mr. Kautsky could be retained as a guarantee df faithful performance of contract, and that said check should be forfeited for non-performance. A request that the city bar traffic from the Morton Lake Dam at North 17th Street was received and ordered investigated.. The Clerk was instructed to advertise for bids on • Street Materials, said bids to be received on the date of April 23 , 1937, the previous instructions having been cancelled on account of some legal point that arose as to wording of the advertisement. City Engineer Hodgin reported that lateral sewer which had been paid for by the property owners at the Southwest Corner of 5th and Pearl Streets, had not been placed by John Duke, contractor, and that who ever was inspector for this job in 1913 had allowed this to get by his inspection, Mr. Hodgin wanted an opinion from City Attorney Kelley, as to who should pay for installing this sewer. Mr. Kelley stated that it was negligence on the part of the city and that the city should pay for placing this sewer at this location. The Board so ordered. • I/ An incandescent street light was ordered installed at the Corner of South 4th & Streets. M The Clerk brought up the bad condition of - the railroad - crossing of the Pennsylvania Railroad, and was authorized to write Mr. J . T . Ridgely, Superintendent, and order the same repaired. Earlham College was authorized to use the city sound equipment, they to assume responsibility for any damage. 0 85 . Claims td the amount of -$6,117.11 were allowed, after which the Board adjourned.
