The Board. of Public Works and Safety of the City of Richmond, Indiana, met in the office of said Board, Friday April 2, 1937, at 9:00 o ' clock A. M. Messrs. I/ Joseph M . Waltermann, Simeon Hodgin ans William' Kelley, Jr. being present , the following proceedings were had, to-wit: The minutes of the preceeding meeting were approved as read. Permission to cut the curb at Lot 226 Reeveston Addition was granted to Mr. W. Rudolphson. City Engineer Hodgin presented plans for a dog pound, the Board looked these plans over and instructed Mr. Hodgin to take the same up with the Palice Department and Mr. Wenz of WPA, after which the same would be presented to the Council for their approval. Fire Chief Harry Williams was before the Board, seeking permission to have a master phone placed in the radio station for the receiving of fire alarms, the Chief explained that when both trucks were out of Number One Hose House, it left no one to take alarms, and that it was his thought to have a master phone placed in the radio station and they could call out all second or different alarms. The Board approved of this idea and authorized the installation of this phone. Luke Bowing was before the Board seeking to have the telephone pole removed from the corner of his parking lot, located just north of the City Building, so that they might have an entrance to this corner of their lot. Mr. Hess was also before the Board and explained that an entrance at this point would make it necessary to make some changes in the transformer vault at this corner, since the top over the same was not of sufficient strength to support trucks that might drive over it. The Board declined to take any action on this until after Mr. Hess had furnished them I/ with figures as to the cost of making such changes as would be required. Mr. Hess invited all the City Officials and their wifes to attend the opening of the Show being sponsored by the Light Plant on Monday April 5, 1937. Elizabeth Popp was before the Board complaining about the parking of the cars of the employees of the Atlas Underwear Company around their home and stated that it was impossible for them to find a place to park their own car. The Board. informed Mrs Popp that the Atlas 333 • Underwear Company was going to arrange a parking lot just north of their factory and that when this was done, the Board felt sure that this would correct this condition. Councilman Snavely was before the Board in regards to the Civic Minstrel and reported the meeting that he had with the President of the Retail Merchants Association in regards to said minstrel, after a general discussion of this question by the Board, the Clerk was instructed to write Mr. O'Maley, President of the Retail Merchants Association and inform him that the City would furnish,_$300.00 and the services of the Park Department in the presentingt;bf this minstrel , and that they had appointed Councilman Ralph Snavely to represent the City, also- that any additional funds other than the amount , donated by the City would have to be secured from some other source.
