The Board of Public Works and Safety of the City I/ of Richmond, Indiana , met in the office of said Board, Friday January 22, 1937 , at 9 :00 o ' clock A.M. Messrs. .Joseph V. Waltermann, Simeon Hodgin and William Kelley, Jr. being present, the following Proceedings were had, to-wit : The minutes of the preceeding meeting were approved as read. A petition for a traffic light at the corner of Northwest 5th and L Streets was denied. The Board felt that there were other locations which were much more dangerous and should be taken care of first. Mr. Clarence Brown, representing Mrs. Corvis, who was injured in a fall along side of Dunnings Store at 10th and Main Streets, was before the Board seeking a compromise for injuries alledged received due to the condition of the sidewalk. Mr. Brown explained that the Insurance Company was willing to pay a Part of the costs , and he was asking the City to pay $175.00 as their share . The Board told the City Attorney and Mr. Brown to get together on this claim and report back to the Board. After receiving bid on stair treads for the stairway in the City Buuilding, from Romey Furniture Company at $1. 00 per foot and the Weiss Furniture Company at $.90 per foot . The Board awarded the contract to Weiss Furniture Company. Pursuant to advertisements, the following bids were received on the Aerial Truck: Peter Pirsch & Sons Co . One Model 16 - 85' Pirsch Hydro-Mechanical Aerial Ladder Truck $15,900.00 One Model 14-H - 85' Pirsch Hydro-Mechanical Aerial Ladder Truck $16, 700.00 Above prices cover aerial ladder of Wood. For 85' metal ladder add the following: 2-piece 85' duraliiim ladder $400.00 ; 3 piece ditto - $500.00 Cash discount off above prices 2% 10 days. These bids were turned over to the City Engineer and Fire Chief for tabulation and recommendation.
