OFFICE OF THE BOARD OF WORKS
CITY OF RICHMOND, INDIANA,
FRIDAY JANUARY 8, 1937.
The Board of Public Works and Safety of the City
of Richmond, Indiana, met in the office of said
Board, Friday January 8, 1937 . at 9 :00 o ' clock A.M.
I/ Messrs . Joseph M. Waltermann,and William Kelley, Jr.
being present the following proceedings were had,
to-wit :
The minutes of the preceeding meeting were approved
as read.
The Fire Chief reported that he had again visited
the Bell and Wallace factory on South 4th Street in
regards to the smoke nuisance at this Plant and that
they were going to move , also that the nuisance was
not all created by this plant, but that a part of it
was caused by the Starr Piano Company, however he
had 'informed the owners that it would be necessary
for them to correct this nuisance or he would file
and affidavit against them.
The City Clerk was instructed to advertise for
bids on the new aerial truck as per specifications
furnished by the Fire Chief, said bids to be opened
at 10:00 A.M. January 22, 1937 , in the Board of Works
office .
The Clerk was also instructed to take the proposition
of the hours of turning on and off of the street lights
with the thought in mind that these could be turned on
and off according to the.:-k.iiidnof- a day it was , rather
than any definate or set time.
Several bad places in the streets were referred to
the Street Commissioner for repairs. He was also
instructed to paint cross walks at the corner of
North 15th and E Streets.
The City Controller was instructed to deduct the
court costs from the check for damages awarded Emma
Landis.

The Clerk was instructed to notify William Weller
of the Police Radio Station that he should secure
the permission or approval of the Board of Works
before making any expenditure for equipment or supplies.
Claims to the amount of T52,957 .97 were allowed
after which the Board adjourned.
