HomeMy Public PortalAbout12-30-1936 308 OFFICE OF THE BOARD OF WORKS CITY OF RICHMOND, INDIANA, WEDNESDAY DECEMBER 30, 1936. The Board of Public Works and Safety of the City of Richmond, Indiana , met in the office of said Board, Wednesday December 30, 1936, at 9 :00 o ' clock A.M. Messrs . Joseph M. Waltermann, Simeon Hodgin and William Kelley, Jr. being prsent the following proceedings were had, to-wit : The minutes of the preceeding meeting were approved as read in Council. A complaint was received as to the smoke nuisance at the Wallace and Bell factory on South 4th Street, the Fire Chief reported that he had made several trips to this plant , and had been informed that it was the intent to move to the old Great States plant, and that he had informed the owner of this plant that they would have to lengthen their smoke pipe so as to relieve the smoke nuisance, he also stated that he would again visit this plant and order this nuisance stopped. City Attorney Kelley reported that a check for $245.00 as damages to a Police car had been received and turned over to the Controller. Mr. Walter Ratliff made an offer of w250.00 for the Starr property, said property having been appraise at this fugure and advertised for sale, the Board accepted this offer. Ted Keisker was before the Board regarding: a proposed bus franchise for the city, and wanted the promise of the Board that hos proposition would be considered before any franchise was granted anyone. The Board assured Mr. Keisker that no hasty action would be taken as there were many important questions to be considered before any steps along this line were taken, and that they would be glad to receive and consider any proposition that he might have.
