HomeMy Public PortalAbout12-11-1936 3V6 OFFICE OF THE BOARD OF WORKS CITY OF RICHMOND, INDIANA, FRIDAY DECEMBER 11, 1936. The Board of Public Works and Safety of the City of Richmond, Indiana, met in the office of said Bo arc. Friday December 11, 1936, at 9 :00 o ' clock A.M. Messrs. Joseph M. Waltermann, Simeon Hodgin and William Kelley, Jr. being present the following proceedings were had, to-wit : The minutes of the nreceeding meeting were approved _ as read in the Council. A notice was received from the Water Works Company that the water main was installed on South E between 22nd and 23rd Streets, a length of 458 feet. Gleh Whitesell was before the Board with an offer to purchase a strip of ground immediately back of the Standard Oil station at West 1st and Main Streets. Mr. Whitesell was informed that it was doubbtful if the Planning Board would authorized the construction of any business building at this location, also that in order for the city to dispose of this strip of ground it would be necessary for the same to be appraised and and advertised for sale. Fire Chief Harry Williams reported that the toilet in No . 5 Hose House was broken and should be replaced. The Board ordered the Building Inspector to see that this was taken care of. The Chief also reported that Norman Jenkins, who was building a filling station on South 7th Street , had tanks on the premises far in excess of the gallonage alowed in the fire zone , and that he had called the State Fire Marshall in regards to the same, and had been informed that the Fire Marshall would be here in the City to investigate this case. Mr. Byrum Robbins was before the Board in regards to the accident in which Harry Landis was involved, and which it was alleged was due to the condition of Sheridan Street. Mr. Robbins was instructed to get .... together with City Attorney Kelley, and they toI/ report back to the Board next Friday.
