The Board of Public Works and Safety of the City
of Richmond, Indiana, met in the office of said
Board , Friday October 30, 1936, at 9 :00 o ' clock A. 7.
Messrs . Joseph M. Walter°man and William Kelley, jr.
being present , the following Proceedings were had,
to-wit : I/
The minutes of the preceeding meeting were
approved as read.
i;:rs . Biumber of the M. E. ChArch was before the
Board relative to the placing of a sign across the
street in front of George Prehins store from October •
31 to November 4 , although the Board felt that the
placing of signs across ',rain Street should be
discouraged, .Tet they hated to deny this permission
to a church, and they would therefore allow this
sign to be placed at this location.
Henry Therien asked for the loan of about 20 park
benches the sane to be used in the Recreation Fall
during the wimter month and stated that these would
be returned to the city in as good a shape as they
were when borrowed. The Board granted this permission.
The street department was instructed to repair
the alley in the rear of the nostoffice .
A_ request was received for the installation of
a water main on NW 4th Street between Lincoln and
Randolph Streets.
A complaint was received as to smoke at the " allace
Casket factory on s )uth 4th Street , and this complaint
was referred to the Fire Chief for investigation.
City Attorney Kelley read two communications in
regards to accidents alleged to have happened on the
city streets , one from Ethel Hoover and the other from
:rs . (rq ce Ann Bailey, no action was taken on these
but they left in the hands of the City Attorney.
A communication was read from the Indiana Railway
Company In renards to the amount of salvage the City
received from the Police car which was damaged by
en interurban at 4th end ?°ain Street .
City Attorney Kelley wns instr acted to notify the
traction coma_ any that they were not permitted to run
friesht cars on Main Street until-after 11 ;00 P.M.
The Clerk suggested that the Engineering Department
prepare a man of - the business district , showing all

the locations of yellow curbs , also l:)catiOns where
curbs have been cut , in order that the Board might
have a picture of ell of the same before them. The
board approved of this suggestion and ordered the
same prepared.
Fr. Crawford !cttorney for the insurance company
for ;BcKechnie Fierce Company was before the Board
together with Br. T7ess , in regards to the danaae
claims that the city had Against them and the
settlement was made jf the claim as follows :
Insurance Conicany 1, 022 .83
this VT.S not the full amount of the claim but was
all the insurance company was liable for and the
balance it wo .ld be necessary to collect from ,"cuechnie
Fierce Company.
Claims to the amount of 16, 482 . 63 were allowed
after which the Board adjourned.
