A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LYNWOOD APPROVING
AN APPROPRIATION FROM THE GENERAL FUND RESERVES IN THE AMOUNT
OF $14,460.80 TO APPROVE THE CITY'S MEMBERSHIP IN THE LEAGUE OF
CALIFORNIA CITIES FOR CALENDAR YEAR 2014
WHEREAS, the League of California Cities is a grass- roots, advocacy
organization and association' of membership cities and local officials across California,
whose purpose is to strengthen and protect local control for cities through education
and advocacy to enhance the quality of life for all Californians; and
WHEREAS, the City has had a healthy, long- standing relationship with the
League of California Cities for many years and has been an active membership city
over the last several years; and
WHEREAS, in FY 12, due to budgetary constraints and in order to meet citywide
budget reduction targets, the budget for the League of California Cities membership
was eliminated; and
WHEREAS, although the budget was eliminated, the City was still an active
membership city and paid its League of California Cities membership dues utilizing
current -year savings achieved in the budget at a lower membership fee in FY 12 and FY
13; and
WHEREAS, the League membership dues was subsequently not budgeted in FY
14 and the dues for calendar year 2014 have not been paid; and
WHEREAS, the City Council sees the positive impacts the League has had for
cities and sees great value in preserving the City's long- standing relationship and
maintaining an active membership with the League of California Cities; and
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LYNWOOD DOES
HEREBY RESOLVE, DECLARE, DETERMINE AND ORDER AS FOLLOWS:.
Section 1. The City Council authorizes the Mayor to approve the City's
membership as a member city in the League of California Cities for calendar year 2014.
Section 2. The City Council authorizes the City Manager, or Designee, to
make the necessary budget adjustments in the following accounts and in the City's
financial system to reflect appropriate changes to the FY 14 Adopted Budget.
Amount: $14,460.80
From: General Fund Reserves
To: 1011.30.275.65040
Section 3. This Resolution shall be effective immediately upon its adoption.
Section 4. The City Clerk shall certify as to the adoption of this City Council
Resolution.
