Friday August 21, 1936.
The Board of Pubic Works and Safety of the City
of Richmond, Indiana, met in the office of said Board
Friday August 21, 1936, at 9 :00 o ' clock A.M. Messrs.
Joseph M. Nalterman, Simeon Hodgin and William Kelley, I/
Jr. being present , the following proceedings were
had, to--Wit
The minutes of the preceeding meeting were approved
as read in Council.
The Clerk reported receipts of the Municipal Ball
Park for the date of Sunday August 16, 1936, as follows:
Total Receipts on Admissions $304.05

the Clerk presented Box Office Statement and Controllem
receipt 2or the above amount.
Henry Theirian of the T\PA Recreation Project was
before the Board seeking permission to rent the Ball
Park for the night of September 7 , 1936, the Board
informed Lair. Theirian that the rent would be 15% of
the Gross receipts with a minimum guarantee of $25.00
he to make arrangements and pay for the installation
of the lights, and it was understood that there should
be no chairs placed on the field. Mr. Theirian agreed
to all of these conditions and was granted the use of
the Municipal Ball Park for the night of September 7,
1936.
The claim of Harry Landis for damages to his auto
on account of an accident alleged caused by the bad -
condition of Sheridan Street, was allowed and the
City Attorney was instructed to draw up release papers
to be signed by Mr. Landis before said claim was paid.
Mr. Ross Harrington reported that the American
Indemnity do. had agreed to pay the City of Richmond,

$2,525.00 as a compromise settlement on the fireworks
accident case at the Civic Minstrel in Glen Miller
Park, and that after attorney fees and medical exam-
ination fees were all paid, the City would net around
$1, 500.00, and the case would be closed. On motion
of Mr. Kelley and the second of 'rr. Hodgin this prop-
osition was accepted, and Mr. Barrington authorized
to affect settlement on this basis.
Mr. Hodgin read a petition for the installation of
a fire plug at Northwest, 13th and Main Street also a
request that Northwest 13th Street be oiled. The

petition for a fire plug was referred to the Fire
Chief and a report was made that the said street
had been treated with calcium chloride and would be
oiled the next year.
Mr. Hodgin also reported that he had visited the
location on Northwest 17th Street relative to a
petition for two arc lights and that he recommended
that these be installed. the Board adopted this

recommendation and Mr. Hodgin was authorized to show
the Light Plant where the same were to be installed.
Mr. Hodgin also reported that he had the petition
ready for the vacation of the property adjacent to
the Wayne Works, but that Mr. Clements had asked him
to hold the same until some addi-tional property had
been purchased.
An investgation had been made by Mr. Hodgin as to
the savings affected through the use of a draft control
and he reported that in his opinion the city would do
well to install one in the City Building, however he
moved that prices be secured from other dealers and
the low bid be accepted, the Board adopted this idea.
and the City Purchasing Agent was instructed to get
bids on draft controls for the Boards meeting of
August 28, 1936.
City Attorney Kelley was authorized to attend a
, meeting of the Bar Association to be held in Boston,
Mass. on the dates of August 24 & 25.
The Board ordered the bill for installing a light
in Glen Miller Park near the Pennsylvania• Railroad
returned to the Plant, as the Board considered this
installation the same as a street light.

Weiss being low bidder, the Board gave the order to
them.
Claims to the amount of $5,391.00 were allowed
after which the Board adjourned.
