HomeMy Public PortalAbout07-10-1936 258 Office of the Board of Works City of Richmond, Indiana, July 10, 1936. The Board of Public Works and Safety of the City of Richmond, Indiana, met in the office of said Board, Friday July 10, 1936, at 9 :00 o ' clock A.M. Messrs. Joseph M. Walterman, Simeon Hodgin and William Kelley, Jr. being present , the following proceedings were had, to-wit : The minutes of the preceeding meeting were approved as read in Council. The resignation of Earl Williams as a member of the Fire Department was received and accepted. Joe Fallon of the Naval Reserve was given permission to use a room in No. 3 HoseHouse for a class room for radio operators , with the understanding that nothing would be done that would interfere with either the firemeneor police radio. City Engineer Hodgin read a communication from Mr. Logan of the PWA wherein he stated that it would be impossible to secure any additional grant at this time on the Sewage Treatment Works. Mr. Hess of the Light Plant was before the Board in regards to the type of lights that were to be installed on the Whitewater Boulevard, and stated that he thought the same type as was used on Northwest 5th Street would be the best for this location. The Board approved of this change. A request for yellow curb at North 13th and E Streets was received and it was the thought of the Board that there was entirely too much yellow curb and that the traffic ordinance should be revised and limitations established for the same. The Clerk was instructed to find out the owner of the 2 telephone poles at Southwest 5th and A Streets, and have the same removed. • The Board ordered the 15 minute parking sign in11/ front of Dageys 'grocery removed. Mr. Hess was authorized to place the lights on the stage at Roosevelt Hill in proper working order. Some discussion was held as to advisability of Placing boxes around the Roosevelt Hill for the purpose of receiving donations for the promotion of a Civic Minstrel for next year. It was also decided that all bills for the C _vic Minstrel should ne :jade out to the Civic 259 Minstrel Committee and not to the City, so that in the event that more bills were contracted than what the City had agreed to appropriate, that it would not be a responsibility of the City.
