Friday July 3, 1936.
II/ The Board of Public Works and Safety of the City
of Richmond, Indiana, met in the office of said Board,
Frdiay July 3, 1936, at 9 :00 o ' clock A.M. Messrs.
Joseph M. Walterman, Simeon Hodgin and William Kelley,
Jr.- being present , the following proceedings were
had, to-wit :
The minutes or the preceeding meeting were approved
as read.
City Engineer Hodgin reported that the ball park
would not be completed until August and that he did
not think the same should be used until it was entirly
completed.
Councilman Brehm complained about the lack of a flag
at the Madonna of the Trails statue in Glen Miller Park.
City Engineer Hodgin also reported that Russell Doran
was attempting to raise suffi*cient funds to have the
South 8th street sewer installed by WPA.
On recommendation of William Weller, Chief of the
Police Radio System, 6 Racon speakers were ordered for
the sound system at the park.
The Board ordered the Clerk to have the Liability
Insurance arranged so as to cover the Sewage Treatment
Works. - �
'A representative of the Bituminous Casualty Co. and
Mr. Pierce of McKechnie-Peirce were before the Board
in an effort to affect a settlement of damage claims
on account of the installation of the sewer for the
Sewage Works, and it developed during this discussion
that the insurance company was denying resposibility
and the Board took the position that this was a
Question to be settled between Mr. Peirce and the
Company, and that the city was protected as they would
not make final payment to the contactor until all claims
were settled.
John Matlock was before the Board and explained that
our liability insurance at the park did not cover the
organizations or groups who were sponsoring the Civic
Minstrel, and offered a propositiom.wherein they would
be protected. The Board took this matter under advisement
until next Friday.

after which the Board adjourned. '
