Norman Pilgrim appeared before the Board in regards to the automobile insurance carried by the City and informed the Board that if different firms bid on this business that the City could probably save around 15% over the last years figures. The Board instructed the 246 Clerk to prepare a list of all the motor equipment owned by the City and notify the different companies of the insurance required and arrange for bids on this business. The Board ordered traffic lights installed at the corner of South 9th and E streets as per plans furnished by the Light Plant, anc also requested that estimates be furnished for the installing of lights at South 7th and A and South 6th and A Streets. The Mayor reported that Ed Ruche was interested in buying the Lemon property on East Main street and sought the opinion of the Board as to to the idea of having the Building Inspector place a valuation on this property and see if Mr. Ruche was willing to pay this amount before asking for the appointment of appraisers and seeking bids , thus avoiding the experience which the Board had in attempting to sell the old pest house, wherein there was a cost of $35.00 for appraisers and legal advertisement and receiving a bid of $50.00, the Board approved this idea and the Building Inspector informed them that a figure of $600.00 would be a fair price for this property. City Engineer Hodgin reported that Harry Pittman had offered $150.00 for the old pest house and the City Attorney was asked if it would be legal for the City to dipose of this property without advertising for additional bids. Mr. Kelley stated that inasmuch as bids had been advertised for and rejected because of the failure to receive any, equal to the appraisment figure, and that this offer did equal the said figure, there would be nothing wrong legally in accepting this offer. The Board then authorized Mr. Hodgin to accept ' $150.00 for the old pest house. . Claims to the amount of $14,576.00 were allowed after which the Board adjourned. May r. Attest : I/ City Clerk.
