The Board of Public Works and Safety of the City of Richmond, Indiana, met in the office of said Board, Friday June 5, 1936, at 9 :00 o ' clock A.M. Messrs. Simeon Hodgin and William Kelley, Jr. being present the following proceedings were had, to -wit : 11/ The minutes of the preceeding meeting were approved as read in Council. The Board received and signed a contract with the American Legion Band for band concerts for the year 1936. The Board also approved the date of Thursday June 11 as the date for the first concert. Permission was granted Charles Johanning to cut the curb at North 10th and H Streets The Board approved the placing of advertisements for materials for treating the streets, and ordered these bids for the period of from June 1, 1936 to December 31, 1936, this change being ordered to comply with the opinion of the State Board of Accounts. The Board also approved the advert Lying for bids on the market stalls, and upon the suggestion of Market Master Carl Kutterl•that the minimum rent be set at $60.00 for inside&' stands and 2 outside stands at $30.00, and the balance outside at $25.00, the Board decided that although this was still a very cheap rental, yet they doubted their authority to ,plave a minimum price on these, but thought that if the word was passed around that the City expected to receive more rental from these stalls, that it would serve the purpose. Mr. mutter was also authorized to have 6 trestles made for the use of the market house. The Clerk was instructed to notify Mr. George W. Hill to either remove or repair the retaining wall located at the Southwest corner of 23rd and Main Street, as the same was in a dangerous condition.
