The Board of Public Works and Safety of the City Richmond, Indiana met in the office of said Board, Friday May 29, 1936, at 9 :00 o ' cicok AM. Messrs. Joseph M. Walterman, Simeon Hodgin and William Kelley, Jr. being present, the following proceedings were had, to-wit : The minutes of the preceeding_rmeetingwere�approved as read. Henry Therien of the WPA Recreation Division asked for permission to use the stage at Roosevelt Hill on the night of June 12, 1936, this request was referred to Superintendent of Streets Burkhardt. Permission was granted to the Pure Oil Company to cut the curb at North 8th and A Streets according to the suggestions of Mr. Hodgin. It was decided to purchase 46 One Hour Parking Signs for the Police Department. The Board was informed that the sewer connection between lots numbers 203 & 204 in Reeveston Addition had never been placed although the property had been assessed for the same, and the present owner made the proposition to the Board that he would furnish all the labor, if the Board would furnish the tiles since the property had been assessed for something which they did not receive, the Board accepted this proposition. The Fire Chief complained about the parking on North F Street and stated that when cars parked on both sides of the street, that it was impossible for the fire trucks to get through. The Board was of the opinion that if the Chief would explain this to the factory owners in this section that they would be glad to cooperate in eliminating this complaint. Councilman Wagner was before the Board in regards to the removing of the house in Glen Miller Park, which I/ the .Board had intended to remove and stated that he thought that the present occupant, who serves as a policeman, should be left in this house, and the same remodeled. The Board agreed to postpone any action on this until further conference with the members of the Council. The Disabled Veteran of Folieikfi Wars asked the permission of the Board to use a fire truck in their parade on the date of June 6, 1936, this request was 243 referred to the Fire Chief for his decision. The Board after hearing complaints that the Building 111 was becoming infested with vermin on account of the lataliWOWCUP transients using the basement, and upon investigation as to the number and type that were using the same, decdied to have all the canvas removed from the frames in the basement, and have said basement thouroughly cleaned and fumigated, and to instruct the Police that no one be allowed to use the same as a sleeping quarters, as they did not feel that it was fair to ask the employees of the City Building to expose themselves to the conditions that were ariseing from the use of said basement. The Clerk read a letter from the Indiana Inspection Bureau in regards to rates for insurance at the new Sewage Disposal Plant. It was decided by the Board to have Mr. Hess make up a new list as to the amount of insurance each company had also the amount of taxes each paid and divide the insurance on this basis. City Purchasing Agent Ray Stevens was instructed to get bids on coal for the different city buildings, and to have said bids ready for the Board by June 5, 1936. Permission to stretch a sign across South 8th Street from the Medical Arts Building to the M. E. L.& P.P. was denied. The Board approved the suggestion of City Engineer Hodgin, that McKechnie-Peiree be ordered to cease work on Division II of the Sewage Treatment Works, from June 5 to 20, 1936, inclusive.
