The Board of Public Works. and Safety of the City of Richmond, Indiana, met in the office of said Board Friday May 22, 1936, at 9 :00 o' clock AM. Messrs. Joseph M. Walterman, Simeon Hodgin. and William Kelley, Jr. being present, the following proceedings wereI/ had, to-wit : The minutes of the preceeding meeting were approved as read in Council. The Board approved the signing of a Release Surety Bond for a shortage of $277.46 during the term as City Treasurer of William McVey, this being the amount due the City on account of this shortage. City Engineer Hodgin reported that he had the figures ready for the insurance on the Sewage Diaposal Plant, and that the Clerk had written to the Indiana Inspection Bureau for an inspector to determine the rates and amount of coverage, and stated that he did not think the figures should be released until after this was done. The Board approved of this nroceedure. An agreement between the Lutherania Evangelical Cemetery Association and the City of Richmond, Indiana, for water connections was approved by the Board. A complaint was. received from the residents of North 15th Street between D and E Streets, that the employees of the International Harvester Company parked their cars in front of their homes, and that it was impossible for them to get in their homes with their own cars. The Board instructed the Clerk to take this matter up with Mr. Pinson of the International Harvester Company. Mr. S.J. Beebe appeared before the Board and complained about the traffic at Nthrth 7th and D Street, and the Board decided to have some one from the WPA do police duty at this corner during the hours compained of. City Engineer Hodgin asked the City Attorney for advice as to citys rights to construct a sidewalk inI/ front of Mrs . Shultz property on East Main. Mr. Kelley stated that as long as the ground was within the 80 foot easement for the street that the City would have that right . Mr. Hodgin stated that he would attempt to expaain this to Mrs. Shultz and if this was impossible, the City would proceed with the sidewalk any way. Claims to the amount of 017,996.27 were allowed after which the Board adjourned. City C erk. ' Mayo . 241 Nunc pro tune. to May 22, 1936, meeting. Only one bid was received for the purchase of the dwelling located at the Pest House, this being from Floyd Focht for the sum of 50.30, said bid being rejected by the Board as not eoualling the appraised figure. The Board then decided to dismantle said--house with VNPA labor and use the old material on different projects throughout the City.
