City of Richmond, Indiana,
Friday May 15, 1936.
The Board of Public Works and Safety of the City
Richmond, Indiana, met in the office of the Board of
Works, Friday May 15, 1936, at 9 :00 o' clock AM.
Messrs. Joseph M. Walterman, Simeon Hodgin and Wm.
Kelley, Jr. being present, the following proceeedings
were had, to-wit : I/
The minutes of the preceeding meeting were approved
as, corrected.
Gus Johanning, who is replacing some bursted sections
in the heating plant at the City Building, reported that
the boiler section needed cleaning also that the return
line should be changed, and asked the permission of the
Board to do this work. The Board ordered this work done.
City Engineer Hodgin reported that it was necessary
to run a 2 inch water main to the Sewage Disposal Plant,

and that the Lutherania Cemetary Association was willing
to allow the City to tap their line at no cost, if the
City would assume half of the maintainance cost of said
line. The Board approved this arrangement and instructed
City Attorney Kelley to prepare the necessary agreement .
The Board decided to adopt the color of stone gray
for all city property.
Permission to cut the curb at the home of Harry Miller
on South llth Street was granted.
A contract for band concerts at Glen Miller Park was
received by the Board from the American Legion Band, the
same was referred back to Mr. Deidrich, to be rewritten
as the same was last year.
Mr. Hess of the Light Plant gave the Board the following
figures on lighting the playgrounds and Cook Spring in
Glen Miller Park:
Flood Lights on Playgrounds $464.65
Cook Spring 86.65
the Board ordered this work done, also lights on Deer Pen
Hill.
The following bids were received on awnings for the
City Building:
Russell Awning Co. y 117 .00
Special Hangers 6.00
*123.00
Needham Awning Co . $162.00
these bids were turned over to City Purchasing Agent
Ray Stevens, with instructions to purchase from the low
bidder.

City Engineer Hodgin reported that the Goverment had
again approved the Airport Project.
I/ The Board ordered a yellow curb painted in front of
Benders Ice Cream Co.
Mr. Earl Jeans appeared before the Board with a
special non-skid tire which the Chief of Police wanted
to purchase for the Plymouth police car. The Board
informed Mr. Jeans that it was agreeable with them if
the Chief purchased these tires.
Claims to the amount of $3, 524.61 were allowed after
which the Board adjourned.
