The Board of Public Works and Safety of the City of the City of Richmond, Indiana, met in the office of said Board, Friday May 1, 1936. Messrs. Joseph M. Walterman, Simeon Hodgin and William Kelley, Jr. being present the folowing proceedings were had, to-wit : The minutes of the preceeding meeting were approved as read. Permission was granted the Shurley Taxi Co. for the painting of a yellow curb at North 7th and A Street for 2 cars. Permission to cut the curb at the.,Northeast corner of South 5th and G Street was granted. City Engineer Hodgin read a letter from Mr._ Wentz, of the WPA, informing the city that the goverment was Willing to spend $209,000.00 in the improving of the Airport property, if and when the city purchased said ground. The Board decided to refer this entire question to the Council. Walter Davis appeared before the Board and spoke in favor of the city acquireing this property and going ahead with this project. City Controller George Coons reported that he had refused„ a license to the traveling photographer who had been working in the city, and was involved in the accident on South 6th Street. The Board decided that in the future the issuance of such permits should be left to the judgement of the Chief of Police and the Controller. The following bids were received on a Police Car: Murray Motors Co. Terraplane Sedan equipped according to specifications S905.00 Allowance on used Ford r. 500.00 Extra for High Compression Head 10.00 Hudson Sedan equipped according to specifications U129 .00 Allowance on used Ford 544.00 High Compression Head 12.50 W. E. McWh inney Col Ford Sedan equipped according to specifications 835.00 Allowance on used Ford 350.00 Irwin Chevrolet Co. Chevrolet Standard Sedan equipped as per specifications 829 .00 235 Allowance on used Ford $390.00 Deluxe Sedan equipped as per specifications 929.00. I/ These bids were referred to the •Chief of Police and the City Purchasing Agent. The following bids were received on a car for the Street Department : E. H. Gilcrist, Inc. Standard Plymouth Coupe with Heater 630.95 Allowance on used Ford 165.95 W. E. McWhinney Co. Ford Coupe with Heater 630.20 Allowance on used Ford 130.20 Irwin Chevrolet Co . Chevrolet Coupe with Heater 593.00 Allowance on used Ford 165.00 These bids were referred to the Superintendent of Streets and the City Purchasing Agent.
