Office of the Board of Works
City of Richmond, Indiana,
Friday May 1, 1936.
The Board of Public Works and Safety of the City of
the City of Richmond, Indiana, met in the office of said
Board, Friday May 1, 1936. Messrs. Joseph M. Walterman,
Simeon Hodgin and William Kelley, Jr. being present the
folowing proceedings were had, to-wit :
The minutes of the preceeding meeting were approved as
read.
Permission was granted the Shurley Taxi Co. for the
painting of a yellow curb at North 7th and A Street for
2 cars.
Permission to cut the curb at the.,Northeast corner of
South 5th and G Street was granted.
City Engineer Hodgin read a letter from Mr._ Wentz,
of the WPA, informing the city that the goverment was
Willing to spend $209,000.00 in the improving of the
Airport property, if and when the city purchased said
ground. The Board decided to refer this entire question
to the Council.
Walter Davis appeared before the Board and spoke in
favor of the city acquireing this property and going
ahead with this project.
City Controller George Coons reported that he had
refused„ a license to the traveling photographer who
had been working in the city, and was involved in the
accident on South 6th Street. The Board decided that in
the future the issuance of such permits should be left
to the judgement of the Chief of Police and the Controller.

These bids were referred to the Superintendent of
Streets and the City Purchasing Agent.
Claims to the amount of $17,884.26 were allowed
after which the Board adjourned.
