HomeMy Public PortalAbout02-28-1936 Office of the Board of Works City of Richmond, Indiana, Friday February 28, 1936. The Board of Public Works and Safety of the City of Richmond, Indiana, met in the office of said Board, Friday, February 28, 1936, at 9 :00 o ' clock I/ A.M. Messrs . Joseph M. Waltertuan, Simeon Hodgin and William Kelley, Jr. being present, the following proceedings were had, to-wit : The minutes of the preceeding meeting were approved as read. A communication was received from E.H. Camfield, notifying the City that two windows had been broken in their building on South 7th Street, and claiming this breakage was caused by materials left in the street by the Light Plant employees. This communi- cation was held up Pending a report on this case from the Superintendent of the Plant. City Engineer Hodgin presented specifications for a new radio transmitter and asked the approval of the Board to have these mailed out to the different companies who manufactured transmitters, the Board approved this suggestion and the date for the receiving of bids was set for Friday March 13, 1936. It was also agreed that the receiving of bids for the aerial would be set after the County Council had made the approp- riation to cover the cost of the same. After receiving an opinion from the City Attorney, that the Dry Cleaners Ordinance was unenforcable, the Board instructed the Clerk to prepare an Ordinance to repeal said Ordinance, and to prepare a Resolution authorizing the refuhding of $10.00 to Guy Metrione and $5.00 to Roy Bond, these being the only two who paid their fees for the last year. The Board discussed the proposition of repealing the old and useless ordinances which are still in effect , and decided to try to get a `s'4'PA project for the codifying of all ordinances. Fire Chief Harry Williams asked the permission of the Board to Purchase 500 feet more or less of fire hose. The Board granted this permission and instructed the Clerk to mail notices to all the companies. Councilman George Brehmappeared before the Board and wanted an ordinance prepared for the appropriation of 2 ,800.00 for the completion of the Municipal Ball Park, the Clerk was instructed to prepare this ordinance for the Council. • 209 Claims to the amount of $6.876.12 were allowed, after which the Board adjourned.
