City of Richmond, Indiana,
Friday February 14, 1936.
The Board of Public Works and Safety of the City of
Richmond, Indiana, met in the office of said Board,
Friday February 14, 1936, at 9 :00 o' clock A.M. Messrs.
Joseph M. Walterman, :Simeon Hodgin and William Kelley,
Jr. Being present , the following proceedings were had,
to-wit :
The minutes of the preceeding meeting were approved
as read.
City Engineer Hodgin reported that he appeared before
the County Commissioners and they were favorable toward
contributing the sum of $1, 600.00 toward the construction
of a new aerial in Cleer Creek Park, and that they had
agreed to take this up with the County Council for their
approval.
Fire Chief Harry William presented the resignation of
Fireman Roy Bennett, on the motion of Mr. Hodgin and the
second of Mr. Kelley, this resignation was accepted.
Chief Williams them recommended the appointment of
Beatrice Kelly as a city fireman subject to the six
months probation clause, on motion o.f Mr. Kelley and the
second of Mr. Hodgin this recommendation was approved.
The Board approved Imrpovement Resolution No . 1 - 1936,
and instructed the Clerk to prepare the same for the
erection and installation of ornamental lights on the
following streets :

Mr. Crawford of the Ohio Casualty Insurance Co. appeared
before the Board relative to claims filed against McKechnie-
Peirce Co. for damages done to Light Plant supply lines in

the construction of the sewer through the river bottom,
all the items in the said bill were gone over and were
explained by, Mr. Hess of the plant and as there were
sveral points to be cleared up before any settlement
could be made, Mr. Crawford was instructed to get
together with the City Attorney.
Only one bid was received for the proposed leasing
of the Municipal Ball grounds in Clear Creek Park,
and since this bid was not based on the specifications,
due to the fact that no provisions had been made in the
original appropriation to provide fund for either a
fence or toilet facilities, and the one;:_bid ::received
was based on the Proposition thet the City would provide
the necessary facilities for the operation of a commercial
base ball park, the Board decided to reject this bid
and leave it un to the Common Council if they were
willing to appropriate the necessary amount of money
to furnish these facilities. Councilman Brehm and Mow
were present and agreed that this was the proper step,
and the Board further agreed to readvertise, if and
when Council expressed their willingness to complete
this work.
Claims to the amount of $15, 076.41 were allowed$
after which the Board adjourned.
