City of Richmond, Indiana,
Friday February 7, 1936.
The Board of Pt.blic Works and Safety of the City of
Richmond, Indiana, met in the office of said Board,
Friday February 7 , 1936. Messrs. Joseph M. Walterman,
I/
Simeon Hodgin and William Kelley, Jr, being present , the
following proceedings were had, to-wit :
Minutes of the preceeding meeting were approved as
read in the Council.
Some discussion was had in regards to the ball park
and the fact that since there was no toilet facilities,
fences or shelter over the bleachers, that it was very
doubtful if the City would receive any bids on the same.
The Board decided to take no action what soever until
after it was learned if any bids were made.
City Engineer Hodgin presented an option for 6 acres
of ground adjacent to Clear Creek Park, said option being
from the Earlham Cemetery Association, M:"r. Hodgin stated
that the Planning Commission recommended to the Board of
Works, that this ground be purchased for the sum of : 1400.00
and that there was a bed of gravel on this ground that
could be used by the Street Department, and that the ground
was needed for the this ground as a location for the new
aerial. The Board approved this option with the plan of
placing this amount in the 1937 budget.
Mr. Hodgin also stated that the cost of the new radio
station aerial would be 1, 600.00 and asked the permission
of the Board to go before the County Commissioners with
a request for this amount of money as the Counties share
of the cost of this imProvement .He also estimated that
the cost of improving the station and purchasing and
installing a new transmitter would run about '3, 500.00.
Claims to the amount of 9,309,90 were allowed after
which the Board adjourned.
