Office of the Board of Works
City of Richmond, Indiana,
Friday January 31, 1936.
The Board of Public Works and Safety of the City of
Richmond, Indiana, met in the office of said Board,
Friday January 31, 1936, at 9 :00 o' clock A.M. Messrs.
Joseph M. Walterman, Simeon FIodgin and Willliam Kelley,
Jr. being present, the following proceedings were had,
to-wit :
The minutes of the nreceeding meeting were approved
as read.
City Attorney Kelley reported that Mr. Hess was to
turn over his claim against cKechnie Peirce Co ; to the
insurance company for investigation and that the
adjuster for the company would be at the Board meeting
on Friday February 14, 1936.
Superintendent of Streets Burkhardt was instructed
to have his men dig up the gas line at the Lemon
property in the Glen Miller Park and make what repairs
they could with the assistance of a plumber.
Mr. Lee Ridgeway was called before the Board in an
inouiry as to the amount of weekly wages paid his men
in the collection of garbage. Mr. Ridgeway stated that
his scale was 35 & 371cl per hour, the Board wanted Mr.
Ridgeway to nay at least 4W per hour to his men and
try to arrange the work so that they could make a
better average weekly wage. Mr. Ridgeway stated that
he would go over his costs and see if he could not
arrange something that would be satisfactory to the Board.
The bill against the Light Plant from the Street Dept.
for the repairing of streets, with a 12% interest charge
was approved by the Board and the street department was_:
instructed to present this bill and to inform the Light
Plant officials that this interest rate was set by
ordinance.
Mr. Burkhardt was authorized to purchase additional
11 coal for the green house in Glen Miller Park, from the
Light Plant.
Councilman George Brehm appeared before the Board
in regards to the advertising of the lease for the
Clear Creek ball park, and the Clerk was instructed to
place the add for the lease for a 2 year period with
the option of one additional year said bids to. be
opened Febuary 14, 1936, at 10 :00 A.m.
Claims to the amount of $1,136.33 were allowed, after
which the Board adjourned.
