HomeMy Public PortalAbout02-24-1936 202 Office of the Board of works City of Richmond, Indiana, Friday January 24, 1936. The Board of Pblic Works and Safety of the City of Richmond, Indiana, met in the office of said Board, Friday January 24, 1936, at 9 :00 o' clock A.M. Messrs. I/ Joseph M. Walterman, Simeon Hodgin and William Kelley, Jr. being present, the. following proceedings were had,. to-wit : Minutes of the preceeding meeting were approved as read in Council. The second of the PWA Checks on the Sewage Treatment Works for the amount, of 43,336.48 was received. The plans for the proposed ornamental lights to be installed were received by the Board, together with a communication from Mr. Hess, wherein he stated that the proposed installation would use up the fall amount of the Light Plants appropriation for the year of 1936, and that he understood that there were to be petitions presented asking for the installation of these lights in locations other than those specified in the present plans. The Board then decided that there should be no extensions added to this list during the year of 1936, and that anyone petitioning for these lights should be so informed. A communication was read from Ross Harrington, who was representing John Nixon in the airport project, sai communication authorizing the making of an option on the airport for 6o days beginning Friday January 24, 1936, several different onions were given on the airport and on motion duly made seconded and carried, the option for the airport site was signed, and the City Engineer was authorized to proceed with the filing of'_theapplication 'for •a WPA project for this job. Mr. Peirce of the McKechnie-Peirce Co. appeared before the Board, in regards to some claims that had been enterer'. against his company by the Light Plant , both Mr. Peirce and Mr. Hess explained their side of the case and after Quite some discussion it was agreed to have City Attorney Kelley look up the legal ahgle of these claims and have this information all ready when the adjuster for the insurance company arrived to make a settlement . Claims to the amount of $410.51 were allowed, after which the Board adjourned. Mayor. Attest : l'~ �LLU City Clerk.
