'.'i lterman, Simeon Modgin and William Bailey, I/ Tr. being present , the following proceedings were had, to-wit : The minutes of the oreceeding meeting were approved as read. The Board authorized the payment of telephone rent for Mr. Wentz of the local ?`roe, office . City Engineer TTodgin reported that the sewer between South 21st and 22nd Street , which was built by the property owners, had become stopped up and reouired the construction of 2 manholes and stated that he felt that it was the duty of the City to build these . The Board authorized the construction of these 2 manholes . Mr. Hodain also renorted that he had about completed the plans for the radio station, and that he had talked with the trustees of the rarlham Cemetery [ssociation, in regards to the ground which was needed to build the cereal on and that they were willing to give the City en option on this ground for one year starting February 1, and that the nrice set on the six acres was '71,400. 00, Vr. Lodain stated that there was a bed of gravel on thid ground which could be used by the .street department , and the Planning Commission was of the opinion that the City should Purchase this around and make it a nart of Clear Creek ]Park . Superintendent of the . i_..fl. P.P. Dan Mess , reported that the cable for the stop . light at West 5th and Main would be here within the week and that the control for the light at this corner had been repaired and a report made to the Police B'enertment and that this light could now be operated if the Police so desired. Tohn "atlock, Agent for the Boiler Tnsurance carried by the city, recommended that some one be placed in charge of the meintainence of the City Boilers, the Board placed this responsibility on the Building Trsnector who was to see that these were kept in nroner condition, and instructed the Clerk to notify Mr. 7atlock of this and that in the future Higgs should confer with any bo ' ler inspectors who might be sent in for such inspection. ?..r. Hess also reported that he had received word that the Tight Ma_nt was going to receive a 3 per ton reduct- ion on freight rates and that he had been informed by Pennsylvania Railr.oed officials, that Richmond wa.s 201 to be rlaced in different district , which would ap;a.in reduce our rates and- make e freight rate of f l.48. On motion of the Board , City Sn fineer Hodgin, Supt . of Streets Burkhardt and Asst . Sunt . Schnieder were authorized to attend the Road School at Purdue University Tanu-ry 21 , 22, 23. The ruestion of leaving the ornamental lights which are at present turned off at 11 . 00 burn ell night waa discussed end it was found that this would entail an additional cost of ?3, 000 .00, the board did. not feel justified in ordering this additional expense, and were of the onini.on that the City we.s already well lighted especialy in the business district .
