The Board of Public Works and Safety of the City
of Richmond , Indiana , met in the office of said
Board, Friday January, 10, 1936, et 9 :00 o ' clock
A.7. 7essrs : Joseph '7alterrnan, Simeon TTodain,
and William •Kelley, Tr. being present the following
proceedings were had, to-wit :
The minutes of the preceeing meeting were approved
as read in the Council..
Fire Chief Williams appeared before the Board
recuesting permission to purchase two new fire alarm
boxes , one to be Placed in a new location at South
13th and C or H Street , and one to replace the one
which was destroyed in the fire at Exhition Park,
Chief '.•ji lliems also asked if it was necessary to
advertise for bids on these boxes and explained
that they could only be purchased from one company
and the price was 1121 . 50 each. The Board authorized
the Purchase of these two alarm boxes , and could see
no reason for advertising if there was but one place
where they could be purchased.
Fire Chief Williams also informed. the Board that
the flag for the City Building was worn out and
should be rep la ced , The Board instructed Chief Wit 1 iams
to get a new flag.
The Ivayor stated that he had recieved complaints
as to the wages Lee Ridgeway was paying the men who
were working, under the garbage contract , and the
Clerk was instructed to have 1,ir. Ridgeway attend
the Board -meeting, Friday Tanuary 17 and answer these
complaints . •
A complaint as to condition of the alley between
Southwest 1st and 2nd Street from B Street Borth,
was referred to Street Superintendent Burkhardt for
investigation.
\Tr. William Torrey lessee of the ?Runicira.l Calf
Course presented his Policy for liability insurance, •
end said insurance was approved by the Board , Fr.
Torrey stated that there were several trees that
should be removed in the making of the new Coif 11
Course, and the Board decided that there should be
no trees cut down until the Board had visited the
Course .
Donald Bell of the Richmond Property Corporation
requested the painting of a yellow curb in front of
the remodeled headquarters of the above company,this
request was denied until after the traffic survey
was completed.

Claims to the amount of $18,958.66 were allowed
after which the Board adjourned.
