Board of Public Works and Safety of the City of Richmond, Indiana, met in the office of said Board, Friday December 27 , 1935, at 9 :00 o' clock A.M. ?Messrs. I/ Joseph Y. Walterman, Simeon Hodgin and William Kelley, Jr. being present the following Proceedings were had, to -wit : Minutes of the preceeding meeting were approved as read. _ Permission was granted the Indian'Refining Co . to cut the curb at Ft Wayne Ave and North D Street . A bill from the Kenney Machine Company for materials at the Golf Course was ordered Paid out of the following accounts : Kenney Machine Co . Flagpoles , ball washers ect . ;Y34.25, out of the Golf Course Funds . Kenney Machine Co . Sprinklers, super valves ect . 86. 18, out of appropriation for new work on Golf Course. Pursuant to bids for the leasing of the Colf Course, William Morrey submitted the following : Payment to be made to the City of Richmond, for the Right and Privilege of operating said Municipal Golf Course the sum of $1500.00 as follows : For the year 1936 5300. 00 payment to be made u-non the acceptance of this proposal. For the year 1937 11'.500.00 which sum I agree to pay on or before Anril 1st , 1937 . For the year 1938 1S700 .00 which sum I agree to nay on or before Anril 1st , 1938. In the matter of bond and insurance : I hereb-- agree that within ten days from the accentance of this proposal to submit for your consideration and approval bond in the sum of 5,000.00, I also agree that within I/ the specified time to submit for your anProval Public Liability Insurance in amount of $10 ,000.00. I further agree to furnish Workmens Compensation Insurance covering a maximum Payroll of 11200.00. Some discussion was had as to the payment of the water bills for the course and it was agreed between the Board and Mr. Morrey that the City would on account of the new nart of the golf Course, nay the water bill for the first year of the contract . 195 There being no other bid for the leasing of the rolf. Course , other. than Mr. Morrey' s, the Board approved and accented this bid and the Golf Course in glen Miller Park was leased to Mr. Morr.ey for a period of 3 years , starting 7anuary 1, 1936 and ending December 31, 1938. I/ Mr. Andis of the Andis Radio Co . of Tndiananolis, Indiana, appeared before the Board in regards to the Police Radio , and stated that Mr. Andre of the Indiana State Police had asked him to inform the Board that he will guarantee to place the receiving end of The Local station in first class condition, furnishing the men and engineering services necessary, if the City would furnish the materiel. Mr. Andis also explained his idea of improving our local broadcasting transmitter and stated that while a new location might be desirable, yet so long as we only had 50 watts of power, that there would be times when it would be impossible to properly cover the county, from our local station, but it would be nossible at all times for the State to contact the sheriff and under the financial condition and all , it was thought best to go ahead and Place the Present transmitter in first class condition and then make the next stem the improving of the fntena System. He also presented a written proposition for the doing of said work, the Board decided to take this proposition under advisement and have Mr, l eller and T::r. Andre prepare specifications to have this work done so that the Clerk might advertise for bids before the first of the year. Claims to the amount of `a75, 500. 56 were allowed, this amount is unusually large account of the fact that all payrolls for the year, with theexcention of the last 15 days were included in these claims. _`aYor. Nunc protunc : A communication was received from ,.H.Pinson, Supt . of the Richmond Branch of the International Harvester Company, protesting the removal of the traffic light from the corner of North 15th and 7 Street , the Clerk was instructed to write MB.Pinson, and tell him that if et any time he did not have police protection at this corner during the hours the men were going to or from work that the Board would be glad if he would inform them, end they would see that this protection `eras furnished.
