Friday December 20, 1935.
The Board of Public Works and Safety of�..Richtond'; 'Indiana,
met in the office of said Board, Friday December 20, 1955,
at 9 :00 o' clock A.P.R. Messrs. Joseph M. Walterman, Simeon
Hodain and William Kelley, Jr. being Present, the following
proceedings were had to-wit :
The minutes of the preceeding meeting were approved as
read in Council.
A petition for an arc light at the corner of National
Road and West 14th Street and was referred to the City
Engineer for investigation.
Building Inspector Edward Higgs was instructed to have the
heating system in the jail looked over and repaired.
A sixty day option on the Property of John Nixon and
Wilfred Jessup, which is known as the Richmond Airport
was received . Mr. Welter Davis and Councilman Leonard
how both were before the Board in regards to the same
and wanted the Board to sign said option. The Board was
of the opinion that the action of Council in dropping the
entire Airport ouestion would have to be r.esci:id''th.eir
action of Decmber 16, 1935, bfore the Board had any
authority to sign an option. It was then agreed that the
Mayor should call a special meeting of the Common Council
Monday December 23, 1935, for the purpose of giving the
Council the opportunity to change their mind.
City Attorney William Kelley, Jr. presented the option
which Mr. Nixon had refused to sign and stated that Mr.
Nixon was mistaken when he said that he had been offered
a. lease for his signature.
The ouestion of pre_naring a lease for the Ball Diamonds
now being built in Clear Creek Park was discussed and it
was agreed that Mr. Kelley, Mr. Brehm and Mr. Mow should
have such a lease ready for the Council i 4onday December
23, 'and that if such lease met with the approval of the
Council , bids would be received on the date of January
10, 1935.
The Board ordered the traffic light removed from the11
corner of North 15th and E Street and relocated at West
5th and Main Street , and the Clerk was instructed to
notify the International harvester Co . that police would
protect this corner at the hours when the men were going
to and from work.
An ornamental ht was ordered installed at Cook' s
Spring in Glen Miller Park.

Claims to the amount of .r2 , 483.24 were allowed after
which the Board adjourned .
