City of Richmond, Indiana,
Friday November 29 , 1935.
The Board of Public Works and Safety of the City
of Richmond, met in the office of said Board, Friday
November 29, 1935, at 9 :00 o ' clock A.M. Messrs.
Toss_ eh M. Walterman, Simeon Hodgin and William Kelley,

had, to-wit :
The minutes of the preceeding meeting were approved
as read.
Ailetter was read from the State Tax Board- stating
that a' hearing would be held on the appropriation
ordinances, on Monday Dec . 2 , 1935 at 2 :30 P.M.
City Attorney Kelley read a letter from the Dayton
and Western Traction Co . in regards to the re-routing
of the street cars, stating that they were intending
to abandon their lines and would agree to use what
ever route was designated by the City. The Board
decided to take no action on the re-routing of cars
until definate steps were taken on this ouestion.
The Mayor read a communication from the Department
of Commerce in regards to a model traffic ordinance,
and the Clerk was instructed to write for a copy of
the same.
Another communication was read from the office of
the State Fire Marshall thanking the City for their
cooperation during the Fire School which was held
here recently.

A Dedication Deed was received from the School
City of Richmond, Indiana, for a strip of ground
on Southwest A Street from Easthaven Ave. to West
16th Street .
A change in material on the Sewage Treatment
Works, in regards to using concrete pipe in place
of vitrified, and cast iron manholes in place of
brick, was recommended by Mr. Hurd and City Engineer
Hodgin and was approved by the Board.

Superintendent of the Municipal Electric Lighting
and Power Plant apreared before the Board and stated
that due to changes made in the type of ornamental
lights used on Ft .Wayne Avenue and Northwest 5th
Street, the City had a surplus of the regular type
of standards and sufficient cable to install the same,
and suggested that these lights :: be placed on South
11th and 12th Streets from South A to South E Street.
The Board approved this suggestion and instructed the
Clerk to prepare an I:f?p: rement Resolution for the
same.

The question of furnishing current four the Xmas.
lighting was discussed and it was found that there
would not be sufficientfunds in the Electric Current
account to pay the regular bills for this year so
the Clerk was instructed to prepare an appropriation
ordinancenfor- a sufficient sum to pay for the Xmas
lighting and to balance the account of Electric
Current.
The use of the line truck and supervisory force
for the installation of the above lights was approved.
Mr. -Hess stated that there was a mix up in the
Recorder' s office relating to the deeds for the
property used by the Municipal Light Plant and that
Yr. Derbyshire of the C. & 0. railroad together with
his staff would be in the City today and the deeds
would no doubt be starightened out .
Claims to the amount of 5,127 .55 were allowed
after which the Board adjourned.

A Petition from the property owners living on
Southwest 16th Street was received, wherein said
property owner requested that said street , not be
made and graded. The Board decided to abide by the
petition.
