The Board of Public Works and Safety met in the office of said Board, Friday November 22, 1935, at 9 :00- o' clock A.M. Messrs . Joseph M. Walterman, Simeon Hodgin and William Kelley, Tr. being present the following proceedings were had, to-wit : The minutes of the preceeding meeting were approved as read in Council. City Purchasing Agent Ray Stevens was authorized to trade a part of a. barrel of wood alchohol to Rodefeld as part payment on a barrel of Pyro to be used by the ,-olice Department . The Clerk was authorized to order 50 "School Zone" signs and standards from the Indiana State Prison, this order being necessary on acount of the fact that the Hoosier State Auto Club could only furnish 32 of their signs. A- letter was received from Miss . Elizabeth Jones asking the City to purchase the property at 19 North Fifth Street . No action was -taken -on this request . City Engineer Hodgin reported that he had made a personal investigation of the corner of West 9th and Richmond Avenge and did not feel that the City was justified in placing a light at this corner. An Easement for Sewer rightof way was received from the Chesapeake and Ohio Railroad and the same was approved and signed by the Board. The Board ordered a alley light placed i.n the rear of the Mayne Hotel. The Clerk was authorized to advertise for bids on a Radio Transmitter for the Police Department as soon as the State Tax Board takes favorable action on the appropriation ordinance now before it. The Clerk reported that a representative of the PWA was in the City Tuesday November 19 and had met with the members of the Carpenters Union and had explained to their entire satisfaction the ratio between Skilled and Semi Skilled men employed on the Sewage Disposal Plant job. The Board decided not to purchase any automatic draft controll for the _City Building heating plant at this time. 184 Pursuant to the legal adds, bids were opened at 10 :00 o ' clock for one Police Car, as follows : Irwin Chevrolet Sales 1 .
