Friday November 15, 1935
City of Richmond, Indiana.
The Board of Public Works and Safety met in the
office of said Board, Friday November 15,. 1935, at
9 :00 o ' clock A.M. Messrs. Joseph M. Walterman Simeon
Hodgin and William Kelley, Jr. being present, the
following proceedings were had to-wit
The minutes of the preceeding meeting were approved
as read.
The proposition of allowing the Fish and Game
Club to us ethe Lake in Glen Miller Park for a
fish hatcl ;ry:. was discussed and it was found that
it would be neseccary to eliminate boating until
along in July and that this would intefere with
the concession held by MR. Earl Moore, however
the Clerk was instructed to talk over several points
with John Marksbery and if these points could be
cleared up, the Clerk should then take up with Mr.
Moore the proposition of eliminating the boating
on said lake until after the spawning season.
A Resolution was received from Earlham College
requesting the State Highway Commission to reroute
traffic -,so as to take same past the college, it was
explained to their representative that a traffic
survey would be started within the next thirty days
and in the opinion of the Board it would be advisable
to withhold said petition util after this survey
was completed.
The Mayor reported that the WPA project for a
traffic survey had been approved and would start
within the next thirty days.
A check for the amount of '50, Z44,'6'9 was received
from the United States Goverment , being the first
payment on the grant for the Sewage Treatment Works .
A written recuest was received from the Mckechnie
Pierce Company asking for a thirty day extension on
the time for the installing of the Sewer. City
Engineer Hodgin was instructed to take this up with
the State PWA and be sure that we were not doing
anything which was contrary to PWA regulations.
The matter of heat in the Police Photography room
was discussed and it was decided to secure a second
hand radiator larger than the one in use and install
same in this room.
A complaint was received in regards .to the condition
of the streets in between the street car tracks, and

City Enginner Hodgin stated that he would take this
up with the officials of the Street Car Company and
try to come to some agreement in regards to having
these streets kept in proper condition.
A letter was read from Mrs. Ella Maddox asking
permission of the Board to allow Albert Cade to
construct a small stand on the streets of Richmond.
The Board were in sympathy with Mr. Cade and admired
him for his efforts in trying to support himself and
avoid becoming a public charge, and would be only to
glad to assist one in such a crippled condition as
Mr. Cade,to make a living, but the erection of
such stuctures on the streets was forbidden by
ordinance, therfore the Board had no authority to
grant any such request .
Claims to the amount of $7 ,066.47 were allowed after
which the Board adjourned.
