The Board of Public Works and Safety met in the
office of said Board, Friday October 25, 1935, at
I/
9 :00 o' clock A.M. Messrs. Joseph M. Walterman and
William Kelley, Jr. being present, the following
proceedings were had, to-wit :
Mimutes of the proceeding meeting were anrroved
as read in Council.
A communication was read from the Indiana State
Prison quoting prices on School Zone signs and it
was decided to buy th 18" X 18" size and the Clerk
was instructed to get the correct number required
from Superintendent of Schools Mr. Bate and order
this number.
Superintendent of Streets Mr. Burkhardt reported
that they had received the Wehr Grader and it had
proven entirely satisfactory and he recommended to
the Board that it be accepted. The Board accepted
said grader and told Mr. Burkhardt to so notify the
the Wehr Company.
Mr. Garth Pilgrim appeared before the Board in
regards to a lot on South 13th and H Streets, and
stated that in the year 1929 the Board had ordered
the Building Inspector not to issue any building
permit for this lot as there was a question as to
what location the new school -::as going to be placed
at . Mr. Pilgrim stated that he now had a chance to
sell this lot and wanted the decision of the Board
as to the issuance of a building permit for same.
The Board informed Mr. PilR-rim that this matter
should be taken up with Mr. Hodgin since he was the
Secretary of the Planning Commission.
Superintendent of Streets Mr. Burkhardt was
authorized to place a metel stop sign at the
intersection of South 5th and H Streets, on the
5th Street side. I/
Building Inspector Edward Higgs reported that he
received bids on the material to be used in the
repairing of the ceiling in the Police Department
as follows : Miller Kemper Lumber Co . $25.13,
Richmond Lumber Co . $25.28, the Board instructed Mr.
Higgs to accept the bid of the Miller Kemper Co .
The Board authorized the painting of a yellow
curb in front of the St . Mary Schools Claims c1 , 507 .02 .
