HomeMy Public PortalAbout10-11-1935 170 Office of the Board of Works Friday October 11, 1935 City of Richmond, Indiana. The Board of Public Works and Safety met in the office of said Board, Friday October 11, 1935, at I/ 9 :00 o' clock A.M. Messrs. Joseph M. Walterman, • Simeon Hodgin and William Kelley, Jr. being present the following proceedings were had, to-wit : The minutes of the preceeding meeting were approved as read in Council. The Janitor of the Central Methodist Church appeared before the Board and asked for permission to arrange some sort of a barrier at the manhole Where the coal was unloaded for the church, the Board informed the Janitor that it would be all right to place a trestle at this location when ever there was coal to be unloaded. Petitions for Arc Lights at: the Corner of South 12th and I Streets and Richmond Ave. and West 9th were read, the Board decided to have these location looked over and report their decison back to the Board. A petition was read requesting the opening of Southwest 17th Street either through to Main or Easthaven Ave. The Clerk was instructed to notify the petitioners that this opening was already planned and could probably be done soon. Building Inspector Edward Higgs notified the Board that the ceiling in the Detective Room of the Police Department was falling off and suggested that the same be replaced with Celotex or some other like material. The Board instructed Mr. Higgs to get a price on the cost of this work and report back to them next meeting. City Engineer Hodgin recommende that work be started on the base for the E. G.HI11 Memorial and that there was about $700.00 available in the park funds which could be used for the purchase of pipe and cement and suggested that the park employees be put to work on this until such time as the 111PA Project was approved. I/ The Board adopted Mr. Hodgin' s suggestion. The question of yellow curbs in front of the home of Mrs Gay on East Main Street was brought to the attention of the Board and it was decided that in the future it would be the policy of the Board to not authorize any yellow curia other than that which was specified in the Traffic Ordinance. 1 1 Radio Operator William Weller was instructed to get specifications ready for the Radio Transmitter and present them to the Board Friday October 18,1935. The question of having the Municipal Electric Lighting and Power Plant bill the City for their electric current as though it were all metered through one meter was discussed and it was decided to investigate and see what could be done along these lines. Claims to the amount of $13,649 .16 were allowed, after which the Board adjourned. rei den o t e Board. Attest : City Clerk.
