Office of the Board of Works
City of Richmond, Indiana,
Friday August 9, 1935.
The Board of Public Works and Safety of the City
of Richmond, Indiana, met in the office of said
Board, Friday August 9, 1935, at 9 :00 o' clock A.M.
Messrs. Joseph M. Walterman, Simeon Hodgin and
William Kelley, Jr. being presnt the following
proceedings were had, to-wit:
The minuteg of the preceeding meeting were approved
as read in Council.
A discussion was held on the appropriation ordinance
for traffic lights and to the account of electric
current, which was referred back to the Board for study
by the Council, and it was decided to do nothing further
about installing traffic lights until after the traffic
survey was completed, but the Clerk was instructed to
present the ordinance asking for the appropriation for
electric current.
The question of the cutting of weeds was before the
Board again and the Clerk was instructed to send notice
to those who were violating this ordinance and if said
weeds were not cut, then the City would cut them and
charge the cost of said labor against the property.
City Engineer Hodgin stated that there was a request
for a street light at the corner Northwest K and 4th
Street on the west side of the Pennsylvania Railroad
and suggested that one of the new type 4 amDhere lights
be installed there. The Board adopted this suggestion.
Fire Chief Harry William appeared before the Board
and stated that when the work of painting and repairing
the City Building was done, that the attic should be
cleaned and inspected, as it was in a dangerous condition
at present.
Mr. J.M.Jon$son appeared before the Board with a
model of the fountian that he was designing for the
E. Gurney Hill Memorial Committee and asked that tie
city furnish the base for said fountain also a pump
for the water system and the plumbing all of said
work to be done by TWA labor. The Board agreed to
this proposition.
