• The Board of Works of the City of Richmond, Indiana,
• met in the office of said Board,Friday July 5, 1935,
at 9 :00 o 4 clock A.M. Messrs. Joseph M. Walterman, ,
Simeon Hodgin and William Kelley,. Jr. being present ,
the following proceedings wer had, to-wit :
The minutes of the preceeding meeting were read
and approved.
Superintendentsdf Streets Burkhardt and Hess of
the Light Plant were instructed to install traffic ,
lights on each corner of South 9th and E Streets
and to mnke° these yncronous with the one at
South 8th and E Street and to place a time relay on.
all of these, said relay to be placed in the Hose
House at this location.

A petition for ornamental lights on South 8th from
E to L Street. was denied as it- was Uhought that the
City had spent all the money that they could afford
for this purpose, this year.
Mr. Hess explained that on account of the harrow
sidewalks on Ft . Wayne Avenue, it would be impossible
to use the same type of standards for the ornamental
lights as was being used in the rest of the installation
and asked 'permission of then Board to get bids on a •
different type that might be used at this location,
• the Board granted this permission.
Some discussion was had in regards to the building
of a garage to be used by the Street Department and
City Engineer Hodgin and Superintendent of Streets
Burkhardt were instructed to make a study of this
proposition and report to the Board.
A communication asking for some repairs on the
City Property at Starr Park was referred to the
Building Inspector.
A communication was received from the Indiana
Railroad Company asking permission to re-route the
interurban cars through the City and abandon the
present station this request was referred to City
Attorney Kelley and if there be no legal cause to
. prevent this request, then the Beard approved this
• request .
The Mayor ordered the dump on South 16th Street
closed during the smmmer months.

The Board ordered a yeelow curb 20 feet 1bng in
front of Frank Essenmacher' s at 24 South 5th Street .
City Engineer Hodgin presented figuresfor _the
work performed on the Sewage Treatment Plant and the
Sewer as follows McKetchnie-Pierce, Project No .2,
(Sewer) 19,883.09, Max Irms cher & Sons Project No .
1 (Disposal Plant ) ,$5,702.64, Charles H.Hurd, Engineer
ing services, $903.03.
Mr Hodgin reported on- the proposed traffic survey
and that approval of the F.E.R.A. had been secured
on this and the Board instructed Mr. Hodgin to go
ahead with the survey.
Councilman Schnieder reported that he had taken
the proposition of furnishing back stops for the
tennis court in Beallview with the South Side
Improvement Association and they had informed him
that they did not have any funds available for this,
the Board then decided to have Mr. Hodgin and Mr.
Burkhardt go over the Park Department Budget and if
they could find sufficient funds to pay for these
back stops, they should go ahead and install them.
